I'm in NJ. Cumberland County college grafted a fig tree that can survive through the winter's here. Since, you plan on grafting next year, might want to do some research and find out which fig trees they grafted together. They survive the early fall Frost. You are reminding me to get back in the dirt. Thx for your tour.

I would have to be honest and say I grow for different reasons than most. The information and then the food. Eventually the food will become the dominant source. Allowing seeds to drop gives me the strongest plants the following year and less seed starting before they come up in areas already set for the particular plant. Any extra I transplant and they become my new seed harvest.

Some plants are just not meant to survive. I collect seeds from my strongest plants only so I allow the garden to dictate how I grow and what I grow. If a particular plant does poorly I won’t grow it again.

@@Ginniccole Good morning and yes, you would be correct. The poncirus trifoliate is used as the rootstock for 90% of commercial citrus. It can live in negative 10 degrees and resistant to Huanglongbing (HLB). Many people are taking cuttings and air layering citrus and creating inferior plants because they are not on this rootstock. I’m growing the trifoliate strictly for grafting as rootstock.

I'm in GA and I planted my poblano peppers in mid-July and they just started fruiting. lol I started my yellow squash from seed in mid-June and have only harvested 1 squash all season, but I have 8 growing on 2 plants rn. Same thing with tomatoes; none all summer but tons growing now. This is my first season growing anything, and I didn't know what I was doing with fertilizing, watering, or sunlight. Excited about my fall garden, as I've learned a ton through error. Your videos keep me going. Thank you! P.S. would love tips from you on cold weather gardening. Do you cover your plants? If so, what are your go-to frost protection solutions?

Most of what I grow in Fall is really cold hardy so I can limit the babysitting job for the most part. I will toss some frost protection depending on how I feel.

@@2luvhair2012 I’m in Georgia zone 8A. Fava/broad beans. They grow well in cold weather down to 15 degrees and can grow in lower temps for a shorter period. A great cover crop.

Hi, loving your fall planting. I see you've planted several patches of peas. I thought peas were very frost sensitive. Do you cover your beds going into winter or do you just not worry about it. I'm 8b NC and would like to do peas but have been hesitant. Same with beans.

Good morning and thanks for the question. The Fava beans are hardy down to about 15 degrees. The Early Frosty are hardy down to about 20 degrees. The Little Marvel Peas are also hardy down to about 20 degrees and mine have survived down to 8 degrees because I collect seeds each year. I will cover the with frost cloth if needed but for the most part I want them to battle the elements.
