If somebody misses the beginning of the video, they might think it’s those damn kids playing with their Build engines and stuff :) I guess my expectations of what should be possible in the DooM engine have been shaped by the city level in DooM II (that looked absolutely nothing like a city, or anything at all, for that matter). Map was pretty clearly made with love. Even very distinct differences between security/surveillance section and office hot desks with laptops. Not to mention the evil CEO office secret. Maybe the mapmaker could double the monsters or triple in the huge open areas or put in some more traps/arch viles. I think doing that and having a purpose made midi (not knocking tricks and traps midi because it’s a favourite) would make this map go from good to fantastic.

I really love realistically proportioned environments, even if it makes them feel a little empty. The wide open night-time city gave me some Halo: ODST vibes. Lot of nice setpieces and dynamic environment changes make going back through areas interesting. P.S. Gesundheit.

13:00: Laptops WERE a thing in the mid-nineties, however very few people actually used them. I'm no consumer electronics history expert, but I would imagine that some of the reasons included the fact that laptops back then STILL couldn't be upgraded [making them vastly less cost effective than desktops at a time computers in general were way more expensive than they were today], the fact that wi-fi didn't exist yet and that Ethernet was still taking off, as well the fact that consumer demand wasn't really there yet. I like some of the Episode 2 style theming in this map. I think Episode 2 may be my favorite Ultimate Doom aesthetic. I see that pipe wall texture and green damaging floors and my heart lights up for some reason. I yearn for the toxic waste.

Certainly nothing against the map, but I'd have to say the most stand-out moment was the doggo sneeze-attack! The first few sneezes at 25:30 startled me, I thought a new type of pinky demon was trying to get you! (it would make for a good pinky snort sound effect anyway)

The last part, it's like Christmas light! haha Author, IF you want feedback underutilized maybe 3 times the monsters. Larger rooms/areas have crates, miniature walls ect. with some imaginable purpose to provide detail and cover. Some cars on the streets, bus stops, mail boxes, car crashes.

You mentioned just a bit later that the final third with the hellish textures felt a lot like SIGIL. The entire thing feels like a cross of TNT and SIGIL. I think it's safe to say that all Doomers are paranoid about running low or out of shells. Eviternity's Transcendence gives me anxiety for that very reason - a BFG does not bring the same comfort that a bag fulla buckshot bestows.

I found this to be one of the best maps on the list. I was turned off initially by the sparseness but it does pace itself very well. Also enjoyed having to scrounge for resources early on.

Reminds me of Ultimate Doom II, where every map is from Doom II but it's blown up to 40 square miles and turned into a slaughter map. Speaking of, Decino can we get a blind Ultimate Doom II playthru? I'd love to see the secret hunting. All the secrets are sort of in the same place as vanilla Doom II, but in the most obtuse way possible.

@@decino I know your go to is to play no save, but I'd recommend saving after each wing. IIRC the *creator* of the map did a no save playthrough, and their time was over 1 hour. I can only imagine what it'd be like trying to do it all on a first playthrough. Either way, love all your content, thanks for the reply and I hope you check it out whether in a video or not. How about making a video about damage floor mechanics? I mean, if there is enough to talk about. I want to know for example if the time between a hurt and the next is always the exact same, there are some times you can walk for a second safely, and others when you hurt immediately you step on it. Also, I remember when I was a kid, after taking the blue armor on the pool of E1M1, I took only 1% damage from that floor, not even triggering the grunt nor the gritting teeth face, but my memory could be wrong.
