She showed amazing humility by not going to the World champs! I dont think people realise what a self respectful and brave act this was by her. I respect her greatly.

Way to stand up for yourself, Anna! Great talk, and the fact that you appeared nervous at times just underlines the importance of, and your stance on, the topic. Thank you!

I admire her attitude, a lot of people have principles, but very few are willing to stand by those principles and sacrifice something important, like Anna did sacrificing prizes, individual accomplishments and acknowledgment. This kind of attitude is what society needs if we want to change things.

My deepest admiration for you for following your principles instead of the money of a tyrant and probable murderer. I wish the U.S. golf industry with their little balls could have had that integrity.

world chess champion? well... Mariya Muzychuk was women's world champion but hasn't reached 2600. Anna Muzychuk has reached 2600 but hasn't been women's world champion (but has been women's world runner up and women's world blitz champion). Balanced, I guess.

She's technically not saying that women and men are equaled. She's fighting for women to have equal chances than men. If that's her message, I can only applaud and I don't get the criticism. Women are definitely deserving to be considered as highly as men anywhere. It's too bad they weaken their message sometimes trying to prove they're equaled or better than men, which i don't quite understand; there's no purpose, it's meaningless and it's not a competition anyway.

I think you should have played and won the championship and then express your feelings in a victory speech. In this way you have killed two birds with one stone.

And then? Show must go on? Where are the changes when people express the feelings and still obey the rulers? Actions secure results. How much attention would a plain speech bring? It would rather be silenced, covered up as embarassing situation and it would be seen as impolite attitude after accepting extra nice prize. A lot of people have principles, but few are willing to stand by those principles and sacrifice something important.

SHAME SHAME SHAME on the International Chess Federation. Imagine they would give a championship in a country where there is war or a bad dictatorship, and some players would not go, as they say is unsafe. Money is the gamekiller.

Can anyone explain why Chess has gender categories? What's the justification?
@christopherg12883 жыл бұрын
Well, technically it doesn’t. Women are welcome to compete in the open section of any tourney they just usually don’t at the highest level bc well, you’d have to ask them Edit: not the most precise speech, I mean technically it doesn’t have gender segregation I guess. It does ofc have gender categories
