A couple years back, this movie played at a nearby theatre with Rob Zombie and Sherri Moon in the crowd, both watching it for the first time in years and doing a Q&A after. Rob himself said that in hindsight, there was quite a bit he would do differently but was glad that people still enjoyed it.

@LibraGamesUnlimited4 жыл бұрын
I would feel insulted by that but I know it's probably true. Given who the family was I don't imagine anyone would be making a fuss over anything bad happening to them. With the motel, I always assumed it was a major dump and they just didn't get a lot of business. Like it was the kind of place that people only went to for quickies or drug deals so they're not going to get involved if they hear weird noises or most of the rooms were just empty. That or it was just the "No Vacancy" motel so they were busy killing other guests and recording it. :)

I rememember watching this movie back when it came out and being REALLY amazed about the whole "Hiring big badass mercenaries to just go and wreck them" thing. It's a mess and all, but that just somehow blew my mind. Like, it's against the rules, man. You can't just suddenly and easily kick the psycho family's ass! Although the fact that it suddenly turned into a reverse psycho-slasher made me even more confused.
@justindenney-hall58754 жыл бұрын
Goblin Rat It makes to sense to me that they got caught so easily for two reasons, one the two bounty hunters are equally ruthless and much stronger physically and two the firefly family had their guard down because they thought they were safe and were therefore extremely vulnerable.
@goblinrat61194 жыл бұрын
@@justindenney-hall5875 Yeah, it makes sense and all, I just meant that it was really weird seeing a movie of this type where the psycho family isn't presented as basically untouchable, unstoppable villains like they often are. Usually in these movies, the main characters are at their mercy (like the family at the motel), and if a cop shows up at any point, that cop is going to get murdered just as brutally. This movie kinda flips the script in that regard, with the sheriff totally turning the tables on them by the end. It's pretty intresting
@ChrisMathers35014 жыл бұрын
@Goblin Rat I think that's part of the reason I like House of 1000 Corpses so much...I saw it and Devil's Rejects in the wrong order. So for me it wasn't a case of the villains becoming protagonists in the sequel but rather a prequel where the main characters have become antagonists.

Sheri Moon Zombie's brother has a cameo as a police officer in the opening shootout scene. He was originally only on the set as a visitor, but director Rob Zombie put him in the scene because he knew how to handle firearms well. Rob Zombie stated in an interview that, up until 31 (2016), 'The Devil's Rejects' was probably the hardest film of his to cut down in order to receive an R rating. Chris Jericho auditioned for the role of Rondo, but was told he was "too pretty" for the part. Danny Trejo was cast instead. Final film of Matthew McGrory. He died just over a month after its release. The blue van's plate spells AKU, which means "evil" in Japanese. Won Most Vile Villain(s) (for The Firefly Family) and Best Horror Movie at The 2006 Scream Awards. This movie had to be cut seven times in order to receive an R rating from the MPAA. According to Rob Zombie, the censors had an issue with the film's overall tone, specifically the motel scene between Priscilla Barnes and Bill Moseley. This scene had to be cut by two minutes for the theatrical release; the cut footage was restored in the DVD version. Body count: 19. The names "Firefly", "Captain Spaulding" and "Otis B. Driftwood" are all names of Groucho Marx characters in various The Marx Brothers films. The dream-like sequences that Otis saw of himself, Captain Spaulding and Baby during the ending were actually clips of candid footage of the three actors that was shot on the final day of filming. After wrapping up on the last day, Rob Zombie filmed Sherri Moon Zombie, Bill Moseley and Sid Haig as they had some post-wrap up fun and said their "good byes" into the camera. Both this and House of 1000 Corpses (2003) were dedicated to actors who had appeared in the films but died prior to their release. Sheri Moon Zombie does not see this film as a sequel: "It's more like some of the characters from House of 1000 Corpses (2003) came on over, and now they're the Devil's Rejects." The name "Charlie Altamont" was inspired by The Rolling Stones documentary Gimme Shelter (1970), in which a Hell's Angels gang member hired to work security stabbed a youth to death at Altamont Speedway in northern California. In this film, Charlie "gives shelter" to the Firefly family. Sheri Moon Zombie was emotionally drained during the shooting of a scene with William Forsythe that required her to cry. She was so affected by the scene--which took two to three hours to film--that she did not come to work for two days afterward

I remember when I first saw this and the one thought that it was a movie. The House of Thousand Corpses was filmed like it was a movie video rather than movie, clearly in between to the two movies he figured out there was difference in making a music videos vs full length movie. The movies are clearly vary splatterpunk in nature only interesting in shocking you with gore not that there's wrong. Although the only thing I remember was that the camera ogled Baby, which made it hard to hate her even though she's sadistic killer. On one last interesting thought Zombie at one point wanted to make more than horror films or at least that was heard but he just sort of got stuck in the genre.

I love your videos, Decker. I'm hoping to see you review one of my favorite movies of all time Mystery Men. I know you'd love reviewing that one. Also, I watched the Devils Rejects years ago without having seen House of 1000 Corpses and when it was over all I could say was what the fuck even was that? It certainly was better the second time around in my opinion.

Please do 3 From Hell, (preferably soon please!). It was a weird tonal shift and I definitely want to hear your take.

The point of the differences character and plot wise was to represent the differences between urban legends and reality. good review though, I guess.

Just by the name of the film and the fact that Decker is reviewing, I had a feeling it had something to do with Rob Zombie or Uwe Boll. Don’t ever change my man.
