Governments will fight it for awhile. Visa applicants for engineers are becoming more streamlined because we need the workers here and can’t get enough of them from the pool of Americans. Or at least at the wages corporations are willing to pay.

My Boomer parents divorced and both re-married. The kids got nothing in the end, but I knew that would be the case way before I left home in the late 80s. What a dumpster fire. And people wondered why I enlisted at 17. At least they did not settle us kids with their personal debt, but the Boomers gave us that collectively with the €33T debt (and rising) and continue to do what is ever convenient for them. Even after so many of them died off, they still out number Gen X, and watching them trying to inflate away the debt as they import foreign young men to be the income tax mules guarantees "interesting times." Declining population causes a drop in GDP and GDP per capita. As population declines from a declining birth rate you eventually end up with a larger elderly population and small worker population. This will cause systems to start breaking down. It’s a compounding problem that continues and is hard to reverse. This is the first time I think Cappy is an idiot. The oldest age group will always be the largest voting block in a declining population scenario and will vote to tax the working. Even Elon Musk is concerned about this and I trust him over Cappy.

The huge caveat here is the speed of the decline. It's similar to living in austerity and pay down national debt. Sudden, forced austerity, bankruptcy, etc is a nightmare. But if you do it slowly and steadily, then eventually you (or future generations) will see the benefits. So yes there are benefits to reduced population. But only if the birth rate stays at something like 1.9 for a couple hundred years. If birth rate is only 1.3 then there will be a sudden catastrophe.

The problem with a declining birth rate cappy is that there won't be any mechanics that know classic cars to fix or make parts for your three classic cars, no plumbers, cabinet makers or glaziers to fix or maintain your three homes and Florida condos. Harder to get a doctor appointment when you're sick or injured ( I'm sure it's bad now, but it will get worse) or nurses to look after you or ambulance drivers to attend your classic car accident or motorbike incident. We need to at least maintain a population to just maintain our standard of living and service's, not just for financial support as that is definitely something we all should personally provide. But we all need other people for things we cannot do for ourselves ( or are incapable of doing due to accidents or illiness) or that we will want to pay for with all that financial independence we worked our prime years to acquire.

Less people means economic stagnation, shrinking consumer bases, stagnant wages and persistent recessions. Persistent recessions effect young people hardest which means they don’t have children and start families making the problem worse. Also less people equals less geniuses meaning no technological innovation and even some technological regression as we loose our ability to produce and innovate to the same levels we are currently at. It’s a real issue to have a declining population. Immigrants aren’t the answer as often immigrants are from low iq countries and they go on welfare once in the west. My biggest criticism here is the idea of going to a system where everyone takes care of themselves at mach speed. We have a lot of people who genuinely can't take care of themselves at no fault of their own. A rush to make your ideal state exist would require the literal sacrifice of human lives to do so. You know, learn a bit of trades, get yourself a book on how to build a house (I got one at my home, inherited. Yes I'm not a skilled guy, but I'm sure I can try to build a house, ESPECIALLY if I had like half a dozen of brothers my age to help me out) and get a house. So yeah, a family structure being intact + lots of siblings = profits for the family. Mix of R-strat and K-strat is good for everyone, especially families. Basically what people really need is neo-traditionalism that aren't just there because "God said so", but because we understand our own nature and can explain why some traditions were a thing and should be returned. Declining populations are not an issue in of themselves. But when you add to them a century of western nations profligate spending and family destruction due to social safety net reliance. Once those nations decline, they become less wealthy and consume less. And they become crushed by national debt. Thats literally whats happening to Japan and China right now. So they default. Then they can spend any more money. That means all the developing nations that are export economies shut down over night. Those nations are the ones who are still growing. Look at the population of say Africa, what was it in 1900 vs today. Because thats what will happen without modern nation support.

Right now countries have 2-3 working people per 1 retired person, with the low birth rates there will be only 1 working person per 3-7 retired old people.
