I live in a house built in the late 1800’s and it also has no closets. You’re going to love it! It makes being minimal and organized SO much easier. IKEA has some great open closets and wardrobes.

I'm especially interested in these around-the-house topics right now (organization, recipes, decorating, diy), since I'm very much in reorganization mode here -- January starts spring cleaning for me. 😁 I also continue to LOVE the "Day in the Life" series. I LOVE decluttering. I just did this with my 3 boys. I hang all shirts now and fold their pants and jammies as simply as possible for in their drawer.

Honestly, my daughter slept in a walk in closet the first 10 months of her life. lol. It had no door and was literally bigger than the bathroom in our apartment (it was HUGE) so I fit her crib, dresser, our two dressers and all our clothes with lots of room to spare. But we only lived there till she was 10 months old, so it wasn't long. With sleepers, I always cut the feet off and sewed in some elastic on the bottoms. Then none of the sleepers had those slippy feet. I think it took me like half an hour to do the 20 sleepers we had (also had no washer in the apt, so stocked up on clothes.) I knew our daughter was going to be an only so I too never saved. My younger siblings didn't start having kids until my daughter was 12, so it was pointless to save for them too. And I agree with you, overalls are sooo darn cute!! Great video! I love the honesty and how easily you declutter.

Such a good feeling when we declutter. My home flooded and everything got taken out and when we moved back in I only brought what I needed and I will never have as much as I used to have. I only kept my favorite clothes from my older son and consigned the rest, then I would turn around and use the money I made to buy him his next size of clothes. I think it worked out well. I need to go through his little brothers clothes now though, I’ve just been throwing them all in a bin as he’s outgrown them

I also kept my baby in sleepers all day until she was 9 months and people (family) kept telling me to put clothes on her, but I felt it was so comfortable for her! She has a big belly and I could never find pants that were big enough

My children have always had small bedrooms so we searched until we found beds that had nice spacious drawers under them (Captains beds) instead of dressers. We were able to store clothes, shoes and even toys in them. The beds we purchased were a little higher than average but worked out great! My 21 year old actually still uses hers.

Master bathroom totally works! Good for you! I recently bought a bigger (organic!) mattress for us to put on the floor to bedshare with our 9 month old. I love it, since we still nurse overnight a lot. Daddy is often called to the toddler's room for overnight support where they do their own bedsharing. Keep on keeping on!

Socks😶. I agree with other comments: enjoying the different video topics. Especially the focus on less makes for smoother running household. While my little one is grown, the minimizing topic is relevant for me as I'll be downsizing for my retirement, but I may be moving my elderly mother in to help her as she ages. Just want you to know that your videos are great for different aspects of the "life cycle". Keep doing what you're doing! PS-we're enjoying our Berkey filter 😉

I read someplace that the reason why older houses would often not have closets is because they used to tax each closet like an additional room, so people wanted to avoid making the total room-count too high. I think they would often use freestanding wardrobes to accommodate their clothing storage needs. I'm curious whether you plan to build any closets eventually, or whether the rooms are too small for that. Perhaps you have a small extra room that could become a walk-in closet for the family to share? 😊 Maybe even a room near the laundry machines to make everything easier! Can't wait to see a tour of the new place after you get to move in.

I feel like it may have actually been an educational video on KZbin -- I did watch one a few days ago called "The origin of children's bedrooms" or something like that, so it may have been there that I learned it. It sure explained some things for me! On a semi-related note, I also think it's interesting how a smaller spare bedroom would often be redesignated as an indoor bathroom as plumbing became more common. Solving old house mysteries is a fascination of mine.

I just watched Lisa's most recent video where she was reorganizing all the kid's clothes, and she said that for convenience they like to share drawers and dressers between multiple family members, so I figured a communal closet might be right up their alley. 😊 I know, right, I'm super excited to see the new place!!! I can't wait for the first reveal, and also the final whole-house tour of their old place that she is going to film before they move.

Ha! I had to giggle when you told your daughters to turn the video off. My girls are the same way. But wait! I love that shirt/toy/piece of garbage! I have to do their clothes when they’re outside and I do it seasonally. We do keep clothes because I have 3 girls that all pretty much just pass down without a gap. It has saved me so much money but it would be easier to just get rid of things and buy new as needed. My youngest has a ton of clothes, the oldest has just enough. You’ve inspired me to declutter a bit today.

Yes! Love this. I have one child and wayyyy to many clothes! People gave me so many and I am always shocked by the amount but end up only using 4-5 outfits anyways. Going to do a declutter tomorrow :-)

We’ve never had any closets in our house, even though it was only built around 13 years ago. We have free standing wardrobes and that’s it😂 I thought most people were the same! Lol

YES!! Your videos are always so helpful and informative. I appreciate all you do and sharing with us. I too, plan on doing some major decluttering and organizing my home. We were raised that every season we had a deep seasonal cleaning. I did some winter prep, but after the new years is when we always did the big "winter cleaning". I honestly don't know how all this stuff makes it into our home lol. Any tips you have would be greatly appreciated and I would be blessed to know different ways of doing things to make the process go smooth and be as simple as possible. God Bless!

I saved alllll of my girl clothes, had a boy next..... and i am definitely going to be passing on all clothes. I love decluttering videos maybe as much as decluttering! Hahaha they always make me do a better job when i have them on while im doing it. Once youre settled please consider doing another household decluttering series! Ive just moved as well been here less than a week and i declutted SOOOOO much before hand and i always leave it at least a few days before i unpack anything (i have an open immediately box for each room for necessities and a suitcase of any clothes etc that ill need anyway lol) but as i was unpacking it gave me time to really see everything i had - im still unpacking lol - and even with all that decluttering even recently the break from stuff gave me so much more clarity and im like WHY DO I NEED THIS why did i pack this i dont even like this this is old and need replacing with something of higher qualiy or more long lasting etc like say a crappy bucket with a broken handle that i want to replace with galvanised steel etc. Its crazy i look at myself even a motnh ago and am like ARE YOU BLIND why why did you pack this. Like ive already ditched a big bin bag of stuff and clothes especially i dont even oen that many and even if its nice and good quality im like i havent worn this since i got it i dont reach for it why is it in my wardrobe. Its ridiculous anyway seeing yoi lovely home helps a lot and having another person with similar views and goals approaches etc is really great because whenever i veer of course or lose that mental clarity and motivation i watch one of your videos and am i why am i living like this get off your butt and remember your goal! Hahaha so thanks a lot hope you are settling in well and everyone is healthy and safe even when moving is successful its soooo stressful so please remember to take time for self care!!! 💖💖💖

Hi Lisa, great video! I donate clothing to several places. I was told by my Goodwill they send unusable clothing out for shredding and recycle. When I have "roughly used" items I write shred on the paper bag so they don't have to bother sorting.

Love your videos and this one definitely got me motivated to do ours as well, however I do want to say this please don’t throw away clothing. Textiles are one of the biggest form of landfill trash, thrift stores will take it regardless of stains and rips as they can be mended or repaired. I mean that in the most respectful way. I’m a very eco conscious consumer and want to spread that little bit of knowledge to help reduce landfill trash making our community and earth a little cleaner and healthier.
