Living with family and trying to have my own minimalistic space was hard. My mom kept everything I threw away. I ended up moving out for my own mental health. It was draining to live in a cluttered space for me.

This is 2023 and I just came across this video! I'm a WHOLE lot older than you, but I loved the wise words at the end about just accepting where others living with you are at as far as decluttering goes. I live with my 84 year old mom who has one of everything and prides herself highly on having that ONE item you're looking for. The house actually is fairly put together, but I'd have it be a lot more minimal, myself! And you're so right that being an example can sometimes prompt others. My mom's starting to be open to letting some very unused items 'go' finally! Thanks for your video!

Things that I learn from this video: continuously declutter your room, use shoe boxes, take break if you feel exhausted, stop buying decorations and if you do " one thing in, one thing out", declutter your own things if other people disagrees and maybe they also start doing after watching you
@savannahw92243 жыл бұрын
I am only 13 and I have collected SOOO MUCHHH stuff in my room. And it is so hard for me to get rid of thing when I feel like I’ll need or use them in the future, or if they have sentimental value. But the only way I can make my room “pretty” and make it my style is to declutter my things 😭
@patriceparker43533 жыл бұрын
I can really identify with having stuff leftover after a declutter that I have NO IDEA what to do with. Sometimes, just knowing that this will happen is a deterrent to starting the declutter in the first place. Crazy excuses. Also, I'm beginning to realize and just accept that, being an artsy person, I just like "interesting" stuff. I'm just drawn to unusual things and colors and frankly, stuff...just the way I am. I think I will never be a true minimalist but I do appreciate the benefits of some spaces having less.
@TheBlissBean3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! I think it's about choosing to be a minimalist in some areas and a maximalist in others, and KNOWING what you personally enjoy. I love my little knick knacks and decor, I didn't love having a bunch of papers and stuff, so I chose what to remove accordingly!

Ultimately school memories will become hazy anyway so don't cling too hard. Take this from someone who finished high school while you were still in diapers. ;)
