When I had moved it was very hard to declutter everything. Unfortunatley I had to because my husband had brain cancer and we downsized to an apartment! It was very hard but I survived!

I'm so sorry to hear that you went through that! There's a lot to be said for surviving 🫶 Thank you so much for sharing your story.

I’m so glad the algorithm dropped you into my feed. Your content is just what I need. We’ll be downsizing in a year or two, but it will take me that long to get ready - decluttering and packing up. Keep the great info coming!

Oh thank you so much! I'm glad the videos are helpful. You are wise to start early and pace yourself - it does take time! Let me know if there are any specific topics you'd like me to cover. Sending you lots of good wishes for your move ☺

Another awesome video - great information! I really love these. A few thoughts I had while watching: 1 - Downsizing can really hurt - particularly when you are getting rid of stuff you love. If you know you're not going to be able to make something work in your new place, you'll feel the pain of loss twice if you try to take it with you. 2 - If you need one, only get the size of storage unit you need. It will usually be cheaper, and it will help keep you from growing more stuff you already don't have room for. 3 - Love the vertical space idea - creating more horizontal space where there wasn't any really helps reduce the downsizing challenge. Thank you - please keep the videos coming!

Those are all great points, thank you! And that's so true that it's easier to let things go the first time around than it is to take them with you...well said!

I’m so excited that your channel showed up in my feed. We are in the process of downsizing and moving from a very large house to an adorable cottage less than half the size. I am trying to be very intentional about what comes into the new house.

I'm so glad you're here! You're wise to be intentional about what comes into the new house. If you're like me, you'll find that you don't even miss the stuff once it's gone. 🙂

I have to add that our new abode is only 30 miles away so we have the luxury of a slow move. It’s been so nice bringing in essentials then seeing what else we’d like to have that will work in the space. I am realizing I’ll probably throw lots away especially makeup, toiletries and random junk drawer stuff, food, etc. We are already living in the new house and it is eye-opening what we don’t miss and can live without.

Omgosh I’ve never heard of someone moving as much as we have lol I commend you for your strength. Even a well planned move is stressful. I’ve moved across town and to other states so many times. I embrace it but it is still stressful and I am so tired of giving up my stuff to make moving easy. I just end up having to rebuy decor and other things every time.

I hear you! You are absolutely right in saying that even a well planned move is stressful. That's why I decided to call my channel "Packing Peace" instead of "Stress-Free Moving" (a name that was suggested to me by several people). I don't know if it's possible to have a completely stress-free move, but I do know it's possible to have peace in the process. Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate you!
