I am SC and i live in Tripura,let me tell you what happened with me,when i was 9 years old there was a baisnav seva in our Village which was organised by our family,i touched the baisnav when i was playing while she was eating,she got up and went out took cow dung and mixed with water and sprinkled on her,no one said nothing and was bashing on me,we are not allowed to go near the Durga puja bhog or touch the pandit directly while he was doing puja,when we moved to the city ,the house owner wont drink even water from our house,thats the condition we are living in i am very eager to leave the country and settle abroad,i have lost belief in both my religion and my country.

Sorry for being a pessimistic, but nothing is going to be better, considering the current sociopolitical situations of our country. Today, it's hard to see and humiliating that Dr B R Ambedkar is celebrated as a becon for some specific caste, whereas he clearly opposes caste system. I disagree with you on this matter. Most of the cities dont even care about the caste system. Its mostly the villages that face this issue till now because of no development and education of the masses and the presence of word of mouth slurs used be people. I personally have a friend that is from sc and he is my best friend and I and my family do not really care and his family don't, but recently I have been trying to give exams related to government jobs and sometimes I think we need to understand the difference between equality of opportunity vs equality of outcome. Equality of opportunity is education for the dalits or the lower castes to make them come under mainstream but equality of outcome is reservation and thats a issue as we are giving social justice over merit and this leads to more disconnect between both the groups. Hope you understand ky point.

One way to approach this would be to understand difference equality & equity. We are all equal but treating everyone the same isn’t always the best way to achieve equal outcomes. For example, equality would be giving everyone the same type of ladder to pick mangoes at the top of a tree. Equity would be realising that not everyone can use the same type of ladder (due to inherent disadvantages) and providing another way for them to reach the mangoes at the top of the tree.
