It was never just one genius. The toilet goes back to ancient Romans. It's been developed and modified over centuries and centuries.

Anyone know where I can get one of those 1960 5 gallon a flush toilets? I need it. I’ve been told my whole life how full of it I am
@afeeqhasan66216 жыл бұрын
Tbone productions nope :(
@plumbingstuffinoregon24716 жыл бұрын
Tbone productions Sometimes you can find them on Craigslist or eBay. People get them replaced all the time for low flow toilets. If you simply search "vintage toilet for sale" you'll probably get some decent results.
@plumbingstuffinoregon24716 жыл бұрын
Tbone productions Also, most 1960s toilets used 2- 3 gallons per flush, not 5.

I rerouted the fill tube in my toilet tank to just stay in the tank, rather then going to the bowl. My toilet doesn't really need the extra water, and it makes the tank fill up faster.
@jameschristiansson31376 жыл бұрын
I think you are correct. I just did that this week to our two toilets. It doesn't affect toilet bowl water level and saves 27 ounces (.21 gallon) per flush (with our current fill valves). Faster, better, cheaper.
@stephensnell13793 жыл бұрын
@@jameschristiansson3137 that means the bowl will not fill

@@stephensnell1379 Try it.
@stephensnell13793 жыл бұрын
@@jameschristiansson3137 it also means if a person does that they will have a flooded bathroom if the fill valve fails and if it's not attached to the white pipe in the centre of the tank the excess will spew out all over the floor⚠️🚽

Honestly I’m sure the many people who engineered the crapper over the years have considered that but guess what?.. it’s still there, which means it’s probably important and serves a purpose.

Now that I watched the Acmeschool Toilet series I know that the illustration here is slightly incorrect. The cutaway is showing a siphon jet model which they ignore. You can see the channel that goes right into the bottom of the bowl.
