This really increases my appreciation for this song as a whole. Each part on its own is so alive; constantly changing but staying in the same groove. Mick has so much rhythm in his voice. Keith is playing bass, rhythm and lead all at once AND still leaving room for everyone else. You can really hear how they fill in each other’s off beats and missing pieces so brilliantly. A true classic. Will music like this ever be recorded again?

Keith is only playing lead here. Mick Taylor is playing rhythm, Bill is playing bass.

@@Bklyn93 I didn’t mean he’s playing multiple instruments. I mean he’s playing multiple parts all at once on the one guitar on the same track. Listen again.

The sickest, filthiest swamp riff on the whole record-followed by a clean, pure, virtuoso guitar solo over a swinging Latin-influenced vamp. Genius.

I love Mick Taylor's rhythm guitar in this song. I mean, Keith's guitar is front and center... the guitar part everyone knows. His choppy chords are the perfect foil to Keith's "lead" guitar… and then, when the Sax solo comes in, and Keith starts playing those bluesy-jazzy bits, Mick adds the perfect counter - until he rips into the solo. He was definitely their best "2nd" Guitarist.

You have that the wrong way round!! Main song classic Keith but spontaneous second part is Mick Taylor!!!

Always Iiked Keith on the Les Paul. Thinks he likes the Tele more for lightness. Although he eventually put a Humbucker on it to sound a bit fatter. Bills Bass is always interesting. More of a bottom player. Keith would have done bass alot different. But it's a perfect song as is. And of course Taylor was as good as anyone and quite original. A bit of Santana 23:18 vibe.

Ok, so , I have to tell it : Bill's bass line is a killer. Probably playing his homemade fretless bass, listen to the end of the tune.. Huge sound, strength, taste, Bill Wyman.

Rocky Dijon: inventor of Dijon mustard. His percussion spices up this track. It’s a good thing Grey Poupon wasn’t available. It would have sounded pooped on. Bill really perks things up on bass. (Get it? His birth name is Perks)

I don't think Mick Taylor does any vocals on this. Sounds like Jagger doing the lower part with Richards staggering a part in the middle.

@@shannonlucas2980Probably. As most recordings are. Although instrument wise most was probably played together in sound booths? Of course not all.I would guess some stuff they slowly piece together when writing. Maybe some have a semblance of a complete song. Miller was top of his game as were the Stones.

Listen how out of tune Bill’s E string is. 🤫 Wow! Most listeners have probably never even noticed until hearing it isolated because most all of his E string notes are played really quick & cut off short. I’m 56 & have been listening to Sticky Fingers for most of my life & I’ve never noticed. Isolated tracks are awesome!!! (it’s really flat! 🤐)

Good luck if somebody hear you. Bill is a hell of a bass player, quicking notes with that huge sound iwith such taste. He said he played his homemade fretless bass in studio, most of the time.. Mustang ?
