It's finally happening.
Let me take this time to say i don't want your pity, this is not me being a victim or whatever. Nobody pushed me into this i just wanted to make it clear.
I don't like doing this, so i will stop.
Unsubscribe unpledge etc. I will keep the channel alive obviously and i may even make videos for it in the future but they will not be the sort of videos you've come to know or expect. That's about it for now. hope fully i won't need to clarify anything but you can ask me stuff on twitter or my discord.
This site has links to all my creative stuff: sites.google.c...

Do what you love indeed. do not force yourself to satisfy others, it starts within us all which then translates in others. If you did something you hate yourself it would never be as impactful cause you would not believe in what you do enough, go for art, if you truly love doing animations or anything around it, its superior in long run, cause you will never get tired of it and it comes from heart. Regardless i enjoyed the funny vids, but again follow your heart! ^^

Honestly, you are one of my favourite content creators. Never force yourself to do anything, periodic content from you is a gift and genuinely puts a smile on my face. Should you wish to stop, you stop. Do you. It'll disappoint people but only because your content is good, not because you yourself are a disappointment, because you're not. So thank you for everything you've uploaded to date, because it's genuinely great.

You're one of the most naturally funny and creatively unique people i've ever met. You have real talent, and more importantly you're a decent and likable human being, you've consistently been a great friend even when others haven't. You have so many better avenues and opportunities to pursue outside of this toxic bubble. KZbin was better with HippoCrit videos but ultimately it doesn't deserve you, and you don't need it. All it was ever going to do is drag you down and make you worse like it does everyone. This whole site is a cancer. The culture it creates is poison. It ruins everyone good and rewards only the most narcissistic, nihilistic, shallow, and cruel. I really admire you for having the courage to say how you feel publicly and pull yourself away from this fucking nightmare.

That last paragraph goes a little far imo, there’s plenty of excellent things about youtube. It’s basically destroyed traditional media and allowed for all sorts of people to have a voice and express their art. But mostly I understand what you mean and sort of agree.

You don't have to understand it and you don't have to agree, But when you act dismissively towards those people and try to insult them for showing that appreciation it doesn't make you look Cool, it doesn't make them look bad, it just makes you look bitter and ignorant.

I didn't fall in love with this channel for the review videos. I fell in love with this channel because of you, your personality, your ability to make me laugh more than most of the big youtube channels out there. I think you're an amazing person and I'm sorry that you feel this way about everything. Know that a lot of people will stick around. We don't care about what you give us as long as we get our dose of the hippo. You're awesome, man. I hope everything works out for you.

Completely empathize with you here Hippo. What really stuck out to me was that feeling you had of, "Well, maybe the next video is when I'll hit it big!" because I went through the exact same thing. KZbin is such a broken, largely luck-based system at this point, that it's SO INCREDIBLY EASY to fall into that mindset of, "Just one more pull of the level!". I also relate to, "Well, at least it's better than an office job.". What I learnt over the course of the last year is that it really ISN'T. When I quit KZbin, I had to go get a job working barely above minimum wage at Home Depot, but not only did I enjoy getting to interact with people instead of sitting in my room being a lonely fuck 24/7, but I was suddenly making SO MUCH MORE money than I was used to. KZbin as a job is overrated. By design, it all but forces you into social solitude, expects you to work way harder than any other job would make you, all for small CHANCE that your videos maintain relevancy long enough to push you to the coveted ground of being slightly above the poverty line. As you said, be glad you got out when you did, because I certainly know I am.

Sad to hear you are not making more videos. Your reviews were different to everybody's else. You clearly have talent and your videos had a unique flavor. To put it simple, your reviews were awkwardly charming. And that's what made them great. Specially the early ones with the hippo. Hope you can find whatever your are trying to find in life. This is what I love about Hippocrit/Gibbontake, and the procrastinators in general. You guys do what you love, and if you stop loving it you stop doing it. That's what makes you guys' content so much better, and more genuine, than the regular shlock that most KZbinrs (and indeed, many artists in general) fart out in order to maintain some semblance of relevance and keep the cash-flow constant. I look forward to seeing what you do next, whatever and whenever it may be.

Club Penguin, Sly Cooper 2, Kirby Month, Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone are some great video examples. I feel I relate with how you feel about making videos as I feel about making artwork. I keep drawing and trying, and drawing stuff that I like yet I seem to still be a nobody after years of it. I will miss you, Louie man. As somebody who also had dreams of a big KZbin channel and who stopped very early on, I’m glad that you’re making the decision that’s best for you and that you’re confirming for me that my choice was the best one. When KZbin got so big I think a lot of people forgot that you can do art without doing KZbin, and that you can make a helluvalot more money doing that. I can’t wait to see what Louie Batten is doing in 10 years and think of how great of a decision it was for him to kill Hippocrit.

Tonight I actually was really looking forward to watching a video from you, but this one took me by surprise. While you did legitimately make good videos, I can agree with not wanting to do something you're not passionate about, or just dont care for. In some videos it really felt that way and really I love your take on nostalgic videogame past times. I will support you regardless, and will cherish your past videos but I think it takes a big pair of balls to do what you did.

This kind of reminds me of the PCP's recent return to the form of having no form. There's a reason that works. It's because no one gives a damn about the topic. They want the personality, the perspective, and the attitude. When I'm pissed off at my brother or depressed about something, I don't go to hippocrit. I go to my bookmarks and play string plucker mother fucker, or watch spiders are people too for the hundredth time. Your best shit has always been the insanity on gibbontake. One of three videos on my channel was inspired by your coffeetea video. You and your outlook have helped me so much, and it's good to see you have gotten your head out of the dogma and are starting in the right direction again. Good luck, I hope this gets you the love you deserve.

Couple of years ago I was discussing with a friend of mine about how old games were more enjoyably difficult. He mentioned Rayman which I had never played and while he was trying to explain the game to me we found your video. We really enjoyed that review. What we got from that, apart from an excellent cover of the game, was that you were a very promising and funny reviewer that just needed to get polished a bit to get on the "big leagues". Of course your focal point was never were the real money was and while I enjoyed most of your nostalgia ps reviews of games I had actually played I could feel that you were never gonna make the transition. Not by lack of skill mind you, just because it was clear that your interests lay elsewhere. That being said your reviews were pretty honest for a guy named Hippocrit ( couldn't resist that ) and I was always happy to see a new upload. You reminded me of games I had enjoyed in my childhood and by coincidence I finished Lisa right about when your video discussing it went up. Your choice is exactly like your best reviews. Honest, right from the soul, and as always a bit quirky. Noone has to stay anywhere forever. I wish you the best

Even when looking at a piece of media that you don't like, your viewpoint still matters in that the world gets to see your own unique viewpoints or criticisms that many others might not have seen. This video really hit it on the head to me. It even caused me to login to my old youtube channel to comment on this video. I only achieved a fraction of your success but what you said summarized it all. I made videos for fun but as soon as one if my videos got a ton of views and popularity I had to try and repeat it again. Suddenly what was a fun little thing was causing me to constantly check my computer to see how many views I was getting. I would work hard on a video and it would get no attention but work a hour on a video and it would be my most watched video of the month. It wasn't about fun anymore, it was about success. I made a few videos that I thought where terrible but still published because I thought they would get views. Luckily for me I never got enough success to consider dropping out of school so I hadn't become financially dependent on KZbin. Quitting wasn't easy as I felt like I was letting my chance of success slip away while also letting my viewers down. I respect you having the courage and being honest with your viewers about your intentions. Good Luck on your future ventures whatever they may be.

I just rewatched this video, cause I haven't seen it in a while (well, it's not exactly the sort of video you come back to), and I'm finding it quite personally touching this time, cause I've been struggling a lot with my own creativity for a while. I've been making comics and animations since i was a little kid, and I'm attending an animation course right now, but I've never been as prolific as I would have liked. I've always been uploading little projects to youtube, and I've been doing commissioned animations for friends for ages, but I always wanted to make my own stuff, not because I ever really wanted to "get big" or make any money off of it, but because I wanted to see people enjoy stuff I made, and youtube was the best place to show it off. I finally did make something I was really proud of in October 2016, a Halloween video about how cool skeletons are, that people still occasionally find and tell me they enjoy, but I've been struggling to make something as good ever since. I wrote that video in a sort of frenzy, the first draft came out in a few hours, and after a couple of rewrites I was recording the voice lines the next day. Most ideas I have now die within the first few lines of writing the script, cause I just never feel that flow that I did back then. I have been struggling with this for years, so when BestGuyEver posted his call to action during MIAMAFV 2, I leapt at the occasion. I wanted to prove I could make something again, that if you pushed me into a corner with a deadline I could find that frenzy again, and I did. I made a video about VR and won third place in the MIMAMAFV 2 film festival. It was amazing, I felt really fulfilled and alive while struggling to put that video together, and the high from finishing it lasted for the following week, but when I sat down to write again the same thing happened as before. I got stuck again, and here I am, over 6 months later and still no new video, and when I rewatch my Skeleton video from 2016, it's still the best thing I've made by a decent margin. The fact that I'm stuck is nobody's fault but mine, because when given a two week deadline, I delivered, but I fail to muster up that creative fervour on my own. Now, I'm not entirely sure why I wrote all this, I'm not asking for help, the solution is staring me in the face: "Shut up and get on with it" I guess I feel that in writing all this maybe I can exorcise the problem and start fresh on a new project, and I guess I think it'll be cool if you read it, Hippo, maybe cause you always seemed a little more open about the creative struggle, not that I'm comparing us. My struggle has a lot to do with laziness probably. In any case I'm not going to delete it now, even though I feel like I should. It took too long to write, and even if it's a terrible idea, if I don't publish it then no one will know it existed except me, just like all my unfinished scripts, so fuck it. If you read this, which is unlikely since you're only really active on Gibbontake now, I hope you didn't find it weird or self obsessed (though it probably is. Hopefully postemptive self awareness will save me). I actually met you by the way, at BronyCon 2019. I was the tall guy with long, wavy, blonde hair who gave you a drawing. I wish I had mustered up the courage to talk to you a little more then, but I didn't want to bother you seen as you were with the other PCP members. I'm also the only british member of an american group of friends, so I didn't want to interfere too much with the meetup. In retrospect I wish I had just asked if I was bothering, but oh well. I hope focusing on stuff other than youtube has treated you well over the past year. Your stuff is really unique and funny. This would have worked out way better as fan mail.

Kinda saw this coming after nothing happened for most of the year. Nevertheless, I just wanna say most of your videos are awesome and I still rewatch them every once in a while. The only thing that could disappoint people is seeing others do things they don't wanna do. So be proud boi, you had a great run.

Already said this on a different time and video (the Might & Magic 3-one), but this is a slight bum-bum since you're one of the most off-the-hooks and versatile creators here - and the best/worst part is, that you are that by truly being yourself and doing whatever the hell you feel like doing in that specific moment you're creating it. You don't really have to stick to a script/series/mood/acting (except you kinda did, but then you acknowledge it when it's not working out), and that makes it so meta and yet relatable. As long as you keep spewing weird shit out when you want to, money-related, passion-related or not. It's always neat.

Good deconstruction Hippo. You come across as very wise here. Not because of your decisions, but because of your honesty and self-reflection

While I'm sad to see you go, I can tell you're going to be much better off having finally put KZbin away. I look forward to seeing whatever comes out of your mind next, even though I still need to catch up on Pumk and your other stuff.

Just as a few people here already said I'm here for the Hippo not the reviews. Interested to see what you plan for this channel if anything now. Either way I still have all your Gibbontake stuff to watch at some point. If you do anything outside of KZbin like music, comics etc. You should upload here to let us know. I'm sure some of us would be interested to check it out.

Thanks for the honesty. I have seen some of the behavior you described before, where people just... start being "lazy"? or at least appear to be? As in, they don't keep schedule and say nothing about it. So It's refreshing for you to just go "This is done, bye!". I have tried some youtubeing before, wanting to make a letsplay for a game with lots of text and translating the text as i go into german. But after my first two sessions, thinking about going back was just making me depressed. but at the same time i was being depressed by letting the few people who watched and commented the letsplay down by not making anymore. So in the end i just hid the videos, didn't want to be associated with this. I came in with the Heroes reviews, because it just so happened that i was playing the third game at that moment. I am not very interested in the other stuff you do, but I thank you greatly for your time, effort and humor. 10/10, would play boardgames with.

Honestly, I came for Heroes of Might & Magic. I remember how excited I was to wait for the review of III, and when it came out, I honestly wasn't disappointed. Yeah, it's the same game all over again, but better. I'm also still going to watch whatever you're going to create now. I hope you feel better, have a nice day/evening/night!

I came for the nostalgia for a particular game and stayed because I liked you. I don't really care about video games -- something about your presentation just made me smile. I think we'd get along well if we ever met in real life. It sounds like you're making the right choice to stop making the reviews, but I hope that you keep creating in some way. I hope you're okay in general and that this new tack makes you happy. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do next!

I totally respect your decision and wish you good luck in whatever else you wish to pursue. I just started reading Bail Jape and didn't expect to get into its got potential. Also I always enjoy your streams and Money Spendas podcasts even if I dont always have time for em. By the way, does this mean your Kingdom Hearts 2 GRPJ you did with Best Guy Ever isn't going to come out? It would be a nice send off
