I just want to tell you how much I enjoy your videos. They bring me calm and joy. Your 200 year old house is so beautiful. I recently went to an estate sale of a house that was built in 1863. As I shopped I noticed that there were some strange things for sale. The doors, bannister and other permanent items were for sale. I asked about the strange stuff for sale and was told that the house was scheduled to be demolished. My heart broke. This house was magnificent. Beautiful woodwork, original windows and a basement with several small rooms lined with field stone. I will never forget that house. 😢

I must say that your handyman, John, made getting your tree properly set in its stand and in the house with your expert assistance look like a breeze!!!!! It is very easy to see that he has stood up many Christmas trees and strung many strings of Christmas lights in his day because he did it like a pro and the outcome was absolute perfection!!!!!! Your decorating talents are also just the added perfect touches here and there that complete your spectacular Christmas tree. The tree is beautiful, Kevin. It was so sweet seeing Avery and Goldie being so curious and excited about it, too! We had a pug named Puppins who used to love to nap for long periods on top of our Christmas tree stand and cover. At her particular heaviest, her weight broke one of the prongs of the stand bringing the tree down! She woke up and got out of the way in time, thank goodness, so she was just fine. I think she might have heard it or felt it go and jumped up and dashed just in time before the tree fell. My nephew was at home by himself sitting near the tree when it happened. It scared him! In a panic he called my mother, his grandmother, at work and told her what had happened and stood the tree back up. It meant buying a new tree stand and redecorating the tree, but it was always a funny pet tale to tell through the years. As guessed, Puppins never did lie back under our tree!

You live in such a gorgeous area surrounded by great shops. We moved outside of the city and into a small cottage since turning 60. No space for our large tree so we decorated the top of a bookshelf with Christmas items. That worked out well!

Kevin, you're such an inspiration to me, with your expert baking/cooking/decorating and house cleaning! Just learned that if you water your live tree with boiled water, not cold and let it to stand for 5 minutes, this keeps the sap from hardening, so the water can go up the bark. Cold water clogs the openings with sap and the tree will die faster. Thought it's a helpful tip to pass on. Merry Christmas to one and all! Nancy Mohr, former Long Islander

Your home looks the very picture of a Federal period Christmas. How I miss our 12 foot ceilings at the Italianate home on Hartwell Ave in Huddon. One little tip besides cutting of the end of a fresh tree,pour boiling water into the well,this opens up the tree's capalairies very quickly so that the tree can drink the water quickly.
