I start my Xmas tree with small white lights as you did. I have been collecting tree decorations since I was 20 and now, being over 65, can decorate the tree as I always wanted to. Almost all of the decorations are crystal. Some have a touch of gold. Like a crystal angel with a gold halo. I have three that have some colour in honour of three of my cats who have passed. Everyone who has seen my Xmas trees loved them and commented that they were surprised that the trees were so beautiful without coloured decorations. I love the white lights and crystal. And I am lucky that the cat I now have never touches any of the decorations. She just sits on the window sill behind the tree and watches all of the lights and crystal twinkling.

That's a gorgeous color scheme on your tree! It's not monochrome but some sort of variation of it using a range of subtle colors that harmonize. Quiet elegance. You'll be glad you have the tree when your love returns and you enjoy an evening in the glow of the Christmas tree. It just adds so much! My tree is done and will stay up until March. I'm in the northern USA and suffer through the cold and dark of winter. It's a white tree with spectacular twinkling lights and pastel and gold flowers and ornaments. Next year I'm thinking of adding a slim white tree to a corner of the kitchen in a candy/cupcake/lollipop theme to cheer me up until the sun comes around again. I'm a creature of the sun and live for the spring and summer.

The Prestonfield House is absolutely stunning! I really enjoyed the tour. I looked up and read about the history....so interesting! I always put our tree up by mid-Nov. at the latest because this is the time we most enjoy it. That's the benefit of having a faux tree. I had decades of cleaning up the mess of real trees, and was very happy to buy my first faux tree. I have often just cut a few sprigs of foraged evergreens and put in a vase of water to enjoy the scent for a few days. When the needles start dropping it's not a hassle to clean up, and I could always cut a few more fresh sprigs to replace. Well done on your marble painting technique! It looks classy and very elegant. :) ~~M~~

The marble came out amazing, looked exactly like marble! I think the Cotswold painting matches the Mask because of the greens, good choice to move it back. I was debating about putting my tree up too, I'm single and I'll be going to see my family during the holidays. I do love my tree and decorations, it's similar to yours but with teal blues and gold instead of green.
