I really, really enjoyed this video. We started our 2023/24 homeschool year last month, and I have been kneed deep in schoolwork, cooking, cleaning, daily stuff. Therefore, I've had zero time to watch any KZbin videos. Which is normal this time of the year. This morning I poured myself a coffee and made a queue with my favorites that I've missed these past few weeks. I had to sit down and take in your video; it was my absolute favorite. It was inspiring to me a s a homemaker. It's fall and I want to cozy up my home for our family and upcoming holidays. We've been in our home for 9 years and making changes little by little and I'm also finding that the layering of decor and fabrics really add warmth and visual texture to the spaces. I know these things seem frivolous with everything that's happening in our world at the moment, but I feel it's important to make our homes a warm inviting place for our families to rest and feel safe at the end of a long day. That may look different from person to person, but as a person who loves decorating and futzing around the house this video reminded me of the importance of continuing to do these trivia tasks for my family and for myself. Anyhow, I guess I just wanted to say that I loved your video and thank you for sharing it with us.

i was gifted a sewing machine by my MIL last year for christmas. i feel so intimidated by it as i have no hands on skills with sewing at all. times like this, watching you make a house into a home, i wish i had community in person to teach me these kinds of things, so i can ask questions in real time on the things i dont understand. maybe one day i'll make the time to binge some content you YT and make some curtains for our bedroom, but for now, i just admire your handiwork. i hope your husband knows how lucky he is to have someone so resourceful.

I love the look of mismatched, over the years collected items. They make the house look so much more cozy and lived in. Like a dining room with a huge table and an assortment of chairs around it all acquired over time, added in piece by piece.

I grew up in a fourth generation farm house and my mom and grandma loved to do all the things to make our home lovely. Gardening, flowers, sewing, wallpaper, painting, cooking, canning was all part of daily life. Grateful.

When our youngest daughter Emmaline was nine, our family watched TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. Really enjoy your videos, I'm a mom of 6 empty nester that works a business from home & am now working on homesteading. I'm also working on starting certain crafts again & reading more in my spare time. I own a 1897 folk victorian home I'm in the process of trying to figure out how to decorate, we are wanting to keep it traditional asthetic but also have a personal touch with family pics as well.

When it comes to the bed sheet, we are craving the imperfect. So we are leaning into the mismatched and curated. It seems like those into this decor style are looking for things that remind them of old but with new stuff and new stuff all matches and that’s now old feeling. Idk if this makes sense as it does in my head but when you look back in old photos of farmhouses, it was all mismatched because they didn’t have the money and resources to buy matching sheet sets or whatever. You are seeing that it feels more authentic by having complimenting patterns and shades of colors but not all matchy. I think you are onto something ❤️ btw everything looks amazing 🤩

Oh, girl, I am ever wanting you to cozy up your home with more colour and patterns! Bravo to your boys’ drapes, your striped sheets, your kitchen cafe curtains and your living room pillows! Wow, I’m a fan! One of the greatest compliments I’ve received about my new home of six weeks was when a dear friend came and told me it looked as if generations of my family had lived there before me! Another friend came in to another of my homes, actually a rental, and immediately exclaimed, “Shangri-La!” I’m not matchy-matchy and enjoy mixing different styles together, with the intention of achieving an old-world European peasant kind of flair. The only thing I regret is how many times we’ve moved for I would prefer to have a home that our children could come back to that they had grown up in, with a lush, established garden and a cozy home filled with decades of memories!

Years ago I fell in love with the illustrations in Little Golden books. The illustrator was Eloise Wilkin. Such charming scenes of home and family. That’s what I want for my home! To this day it’s still what I strive toward….50 years and counting!

I loved this video. I think this is an authentic representation of what it is like to decorate a *home*. It's different than decorating a "space", like in the shows. Homes are a reflection of the growth within, and growth doesn't happen overnight. The collections made up over time, the layers and the changes - those are what make a house homey. I shop goodwill for sheets and tablecloths to make everything out of! Curtains, pillows, clothes, anything fabric! So super cheap! Looks great Lisa, good job girls! You can also put an elastic band around the top and bottom of those lamp shades so you can pop them on and off to wash them! Easy peasy!

Oh my goodness, one time we bought a large panel of rolled up Christmas fabric at goodwill to make Christmas stockings, but when I got home and opened it, it was mismatched, cut up junk fabric with few pieces even large enough for Christmas stockings. It was so deceitful 🤦‍♀️. I always unravel it in the store now to check.

I don't live in a farmhouse, but a townhouse we bought about 10 years ago, but I love the farmhouse style. I find that in the 10 years we have been there my style really have changed, so I really want to redo the whole house. that will take time. I began with swapping small things and some furniture that needed replacing. I really can't wait to have it done and see the final result. ANd then fingers crossed that my style doesn't change too much again. Right now I'm leaning towards the country style combined with like the sage green tones. A splash of colour I add with things like pillows, blankets and such. Right now it I have the earthy tones in my house for autumn.

Every 5 years I repaint walls, change decor in rooms and next year is 20 years here. I want the wood floors refinished, the walls repainted and the main staircase redone for a less battered over time look since our home is over 200 years old. My daughter made curtains for each room years ago so we’ll stick to the same color theme, just need a fresh look. Thank you for so many ideas as to how to turn my mismatched rooms into a lovely country look.
