Very nice job, A+. Safety C-, next time wear a mask when spraying, safety glasses are also a good idea. Positive critique, you do great work, thanks for sharing your process.

West nice work. I am learning a lot from you. But I think you should wear a mask when you’re spraying.

Nice work. I’m trying to make a keepsake box myself and wondering what ogee bit you were using.

Has anyone said to you that woodworking with a fence and a mitre gauge at the same time is not good? Am I missing something?

I’d guess having the blade at 45 keeps it from getting trapped but I still would never do it

Thank you for the great video of your beautiful box. You inspired me to make one myself. What finish did you spray on your box?

I used a clear pre-cat lacquer. Thanks for watching, Wes

I was wondering why didn't you make the splines and feet with the same wood as the lid?
@matthewsnyder661610 ай бұрын
how did you figure out how to draw the arch on? did you free hand or use an instrument? then did you use a bandsaw to cut it? I'm working on a similar box myself but have never made a foot before. Thanks!

Hello. I am now one of your subscribers and simply love this build. I do have some questions since I am new to putting feet on boxes. What is the thickness of the feet material and what is the height of the feet material after the two species are glued together?
@WoodworkingWithWes3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lee...thank you for subscribing to my channel. The foot is 1" thick and 2" tall. The walnut strip is 1/2' and the mango 1 1/2". I cut a 3/8" x 1" rabbet to accept the main body of the box and mitered the corners. Hope this helps...good luck.

Is the trick for long point-long point 45 miters, to simply subtract thickness from final dimension, which in turn will get a starting point from how far the blade is?
@WoodworkingWithWes4 жыл бұрын
If I understand your question correctly, you are asking for the best way to measure long point to long point. I start by cutting the 45 on one end of my stock and then measure from the cut to the measurement that I want and then cut to my mark. I hope this helps but feel to follow up if you need to. Thanks for watching.

Wes, Great Box! You said the box was 10 X 18, but what is the height?
@WoodworkingWithWes3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words Greg. The height of the box is 8 1/4" . Wes
@gregmacintyre36463 жыл бұрын
@@WoodworkingWithWes Is it 8 1/4 with the feet ?

Not to be a killjoy… love the box.. but you really should wear a respirator when spraying your finish! Beautiful work though!!

The same goes for jointers, planers, sanders, band saws and drill presses!
