@Quickened13 жыл бұрын
would be interesting to see how it applies to a true popcorn ceiling! That ceiling ceased being an acoustic finish long ago. One other thing I noticed, you were placing the dollop of adhesive in the floral recesses! Instead, they should be applied on the high spots of the tiles, not the low spots!

It's such a nice ceiling but I'm wondering... would it not make sense to start by centering the first ceiling tile where the light fixture is and cut the hole in the center of that tile so it is in the middle? And then work out from there. ?? That way the chandelier is in the center of a tile vs some other section.
@DecorativeCeilingTilesInc4 жыл бұрын
Yes! That would make sense most of the time if the fixture is in the center of the ceiling. I believe the reason this was not done because the light was off-center.

I am installing the Washington square tile tomorrow. I have two ceiling vents. I am concerned because of the design of the tile the vents will look strange because they will sit below the tile?
@DecorativeCeilingTilesInc2 жыл бұрын
You can move the vents to the center of the tile for best results but if you are not willing to move them, they will basically fall where they fall. This is not a problem, you do however want to paint the covers to match the tile.

Does it matter if my ceiling is not “painted” over popcorn ceiling? Mine is just chalky looking (no shine finish). I am worried the ceiling tile glue and tiles will be too heavy and crumble down? I do not want that to happen and be exposed to the disturbed asbestos.
@HerbertAtkinson Жыл бұрын
No need to have painted ceiling being it's covering up the ceiling, though I wouldn't use any very strong adhesive in the event you ever want to remove them in the future, I was thinking of using this technic being if the popcorn ceiling comes back testing positive having asbestos in it, I am not want to mess with any asbestos rather just go over it or leave alone altogether.
@DecorativeCeilingTilesInc Жыл бұрын
When you press on the popcorn, is it strong or turning to dust and falling off? If it is strong it is good to go to be covered. You don't have to use a lot of glue to put these up.

Great video! I will be doing the same project to my new house sooner than later. Question though: Is it standard practice to mount the light fixture base on top of the new ceiling tiles? Or could I leave the fixture in place and cut the tiles to match the outer diameter of the fixture, or in my case a ceiling fan. I feel like you would achieve a more uniform fit around it that way instead of seeing the gaps from the profiles of the ceiling tiles.

@DecorativeCeilingTilesInc4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely no problem, the main issue is the stability of the surface and that it is not dusty or dirty.. Just so that the glue can stick to a strong substrate. Otherwise, heavy texture is not really a problem.
@randallreese4 жыл бұрын
I suppose one way to cover up an out-of-date decorating choice is to make a new decorating choice, but I doubt that PVC ceiling tiles and styrofoam moulding are going to date well. Scraping the old texture and skim coating seems like not only a less expensive choice, but one that will look good no matter what styles come and go.

Moulding first and then the tiles?
@jeffcarroll65533 жыл бұрын
I think it would look better with the mouldings g applied first around the ceiling, then the tiles cut to be equally spaced with regard to their dimensions. The light fitting should be repositioned to the middle of the room and the vent to the perimeter. Equally good would be a flat rectangular tile that filled in the gap between Scotia and pattern tile, that way it would look more balanced. Perhaps the company should make them. Are they paintable?
