prayer and reading scripture helps in the short-term because 'thinking about god' causes your brain to release happy chemicals (dopamine) which makes you feel good. But when you realize you've based your life around a creative-fiction book your world starts to crumble and you have a mid-life crisis - so the prayer/scripture hurts you in the long run, unless you can maintain your religious delusions despite all the glaring historical errors and scientific errors and moral atrocities in the Bible.
@Diaicy194 жыл бұрын
@@zenon3021 If you want a scripture without errors and contradictory statements and errors, but with the calming effect, then try reading the Quran.
@zenon30214 жыл бұрын
@@Diaicy19 I'd rather ground my beliefs in objective reality instead of fantasy-fiction books. The Quran's god is based on the Old Testament which is a fantasy book containing talking trees, talking snakes, 950 yr olds, mythical floods, zombies, magic, dragons... P.S - every religions believers FEEL their book is infallible. No matter how much evidence to the contrary, they always find a way to square that circle.
@namefirstnamelast64044 жыл бұрын
@@zenon3021 for you, religion is fantasy. For others, its not. There may be moral atrocities in the Bible, but there are lessons to be learned as well. Let's remember that it is a book written by humans, even if believed to be the word of God. You don't need to approach others anywhere with an air of superiority or belittle their values of beliefs, Quran, Bible or otherwise. The other people who commented here didn't ask for anyone's opinion on the things they do to find calm and peace. You don't need to destroy it by telling them you think they are stupid because they have found something important to them that means nothing to you. By the way, you've heard of allegorical story telling, right? That's how the Bible and Quran were written. NOT as factual stories that really happened of people talking to trees and snakes. Don't play dumb for the sake of your own argument.

And now this video pops up in my home feed again, years after it was released. I'm taking notes. Thank you so much for what you do, Sadia. *Stress and anxiety are different, one is normal, the other is considered maladaptive and treatable. I've been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder.

I just got up with a stressful mind. This video is on time. How I manage my stress is by praying, take a moment to see and feel the things I am grateful for and talk to someone I trust about the issue I’m strugling with. I’m having a major stress with my family problem right now and I manage to keep myself in check upon thinking about it so I’m not too stressful. Praying and reading the Bible have helped me a lot. I’m still strugling to keep my faith in God, but I always remind myself to slow down and remember that future is not in my hand and that I should trust God. I’m in the right hands.

I think the important thing is that we understand that we all have stress in our life and the management and premanagement of how we handle vs just deal with stress is what will help our effectiveness. So I totally believe as she said practice using strategies to help us in such situations is truly what will help us get better and better at managing stress levels. We shouldn’t go about life thinking we can’t get stressed or even wish it away, rather use strategies and strategies develop skills and skills are what help us navigate better through life. Waking became a skill after trying as a small child over and over again. Riding a bike the same, driving a vehicle, writing, reading, so why would it be any different in managing stress. Let’s give ourselves more time to practice our effective stress management strategies that we may develop the skill of stress management. Beautiful video pick up limes! Keep the great work going. Your videos are a stress management strategy I use in my life. They are so peaceful and insightful. Your bro Anthony
