I've been meaning to comment this for literal months, but you have the supernatural ability to begin streaming Kingdom Hearts at the exact time I need to go to class. Regardless of if I have a day off, or if you move it to a different day, or randomly stream it on a day not on the schedule, you always start streaming right as I need to go. I kinda laughed at the Riku Wargoyle raging. Dee Bee fell into the trap I fell into for the Riku Wargoyle fight. The mistake that we made is that Riku's Wargoyle is meant to be fought AT RANGE - with spell damage supplemented by reprisals and reality shifts. I only made headway after loading my command deck with magic (Balloon, Blizzara, and a couple of Cure spells) which made it go faster and far less frustrating. After this fight, I made a second preset deck that focused on magic and ranged combat so if Bosses were too long for melee-focused combat, I'd switch to magic.

Having 3 decks available is pretty handy. I had a boss deck, a general deck, and then a fun themed deck for each character. Though you could just have cure and balloon in your deck and sweep 90% the game no sweat

Dbg is one of the most brute force players I’ve ever seen. Instead of trying new tactics or alternative load outs, he will try the same thing a million times until he wins. It’s both impressive and frustrating.

One thing that helps in this game is that you get a ton of i-frames on flowmotion attacks, I think they tried to counter this by making bosses tougher, expecting you to use the new mechanic.

Jokes on them. I spent over a decade playing the series one way and actively resisted overly relying on flowmotion attacks. Them expecting you to rely on them and designing the game around that is one of the things I actually can't stand about the game.

@@Syntherus I by and large didn't use them either, I was just offering up some advice as it's not something the game ever tells you. I actually think the best answer is knowing what commands to use and maxing out your spirits' skill tree's.

I recommend making or buying LONG range Spell to attack the boss from afar instead of close range as you're not strong enough and also make new Dream Eaters. Some DEs are better than other and also make sure to power your DEs up too. Doing the Colosseum helps and petting them to earn more points. I strong suggest getting the Balloon spell -- especially Ballonra, not -ga -- as that is by far the most broken and strongest spell in the game and shreds enemies apart. Having at least a couple will aid you greatly and make the fights less stressful. By glad you didn't do the Critical Mode... you need to do New Game Plus and carry over your strongest Dream Eaters as they do the work for your as Sora and Riku are apparently not that strong. They didn't balance Critical Mode so well in this game. Anyway I hope you continue to play Dream Drop Distance and have fun still. Take care my friend!

Fun fact, first time I played this on the 3DS I got through to one of the final worlds without realizing I hadn't touched my dream eaters for several worlds lol. Be sure to give some time petting them and leveling them up with link ups like you've been doing, you can get items at the moogle that refill your dream eaters as well as refill your drop meter. The bosses in this game rarely stagger, so memorize their patterns but also try to utilize flow motion attacks as well as command attacks(triangle button attacks) they do more damage that the standard combo( also if you do enough damage the bosses enough they can stagger and you can use flow motion special attacks when they stagger). This ain't a perfect game but it's one of my favorite in the series, been enjoying your content for a while and applaud you for pushing through. Hope the ride gets smoother for you from here on out, and know we're all rooting for you brotha.

I did something similar with BBS in my first game (as Ventus): I was in critical and you knew these things to combine with skills that gives you second chance, more HPs etc ... I had literally none of that because I wasn't aware of how to combine them and the final boss could kill me in two hits.

This game had lots of rage moments and the bosses were very interesting took a while to get used to them. After playing it a couple times it clicks but still difficult none the less. There were more times in this game than any other Kh game I heard the dreaded Low hp noise but eventually you find a way.

Yeah, when I first played this game. I eventually had to go back and level grind. Especially when I got to Tron. Probably the first time I level grinded in KH.

I know its a year or two too late, but i found it odd people recommended that it was best to fight it while flying over the fire. I found it much better to keep at the cathedral itself and using the flowmotion mechanic to kick off of the walls and do the spinning drop attacks against it. Was much more reliable at doing damage and youre largely invulnerable while performing flowmotion attacks.

Ah, a Dream Drop Distance rite of passage. Dropping in the middle of a boss fight and having to do it over again. I haven’t been keeping up with his streams, but he is at the endgame now, correct? Welp, I have some tips for those starting out. You can drop manually from the pause menu, in or out of combat, at any time. If you feel like you’ve just entered an important area and your gauge is low, just drop and attempt it later. Oh and remember you can hit continue or exit battle from the death screen instead of retry if you want to do some more preparation. Also, keep an eye on your Dream Eaters. You’re always getting materials to make new ones, see if any look interesting to you. Their link boards can give you permanent commands and abilities. “Stats abilities” though are only active when that Spirit is equipped. Attack Boost, Magic Haste, Thunder Screen - those kinds of things. Your Spirits are more active in battle the higher their affinity is (the pink bar on the screen where you play with them). What actions they use depend on their “dispositions” or eye colors. The game doesn’t explain any of this very well, so look up a guide if you’re curious. Or just wing it on your first playthrough! Flick Rush is really boring, but you can get good commands and items from the medal shop. Check back as you progress through worlds. Have a fire element Spirit on your team and they can cheese many fights with Mega Flare.

Word of advice. The Balloon spells are the strongest spells in this game. So don’t hesitate to use them in tough boss battles. Ballonga will eventually show up in the Dream eater arena shop in Travese town so long as you continue fighting in said areana matches(or as the story progresses)

Dream Drop Distance is a game that took me months to replay after finishing it. When i was done with it i was so fed up with the game, and it took a long while before i started enjoying it in the end. The fact that you are also playing on critical just speeds up the raging process.

I can only imagine how he'd feel on Critical Mode lol. Wargoyle is actually a really enjoyable fight, cause he's a hard counter towards both Sora and Riku, meaning you have to play with a different strategy than usual. As for the drop meter, Drop Me Nots/Nevers are your friend and near mandatory, especially on Critical Mode Lv1.

I have never seen someone have so much trouble against the monkey. You can block most of what he does you know. Edit: If fighting an enemy the way you want to doesn't work then consider that you may be fighting it wrong. Wargoyle won't let you get close or give you any openings in the air, and what attacks of its that are blockable can't be blocked while you've got your feet off the ground because you can't block, so don't close the distance to attack. Use magic.

Hang in there Dee, it's getting better. I know you want to experience the mechanics of each game by yourself but given you were more frustrated with the bosses than having any fun I'd like to give you a little advise. You already know it, you just forgot: Your Spirits aren't just support in battles, always check in with them after their level ups. You'll know when you check the menu there. Keep up the good work, I'm already excited for the next part!

Firaga burst plants the player to the ground, as they summon a massive Firaga ball that fires smaller Firagas that seek enemies. Aqua could learn it Tornado also locked the player in place, but allowed them to steer a tornado that would or pick up enemies. Ven could have learned this. Meteor crash was something Terra learned. I’m not backseating, at least I hope not… just wanted to let you know beforehand… 🤔

Flick Rush is really fun. It’s way simpler to understand than Chain of Memories (which is still fun) and you don’t really have to strategize as much. Just flick and fight!

I would say that the Drop system AND the Wargoyle are both universally reviled by the kingdom hearts fandom at large. They're both just so annoying. This is the game where I really don't mind any cheese strats because of how chap it can be. And believe me, there is a cheese strat that works on every single enemy in the game, including bosses. But keep going! good on you for beat the Wargoyles.

It's only rage inducing if you're underleveled, don't spend time with your dream eaters & unlock stuff, or practicing the mechanics.😎 Fighting the gargoyle at lv.9+ & having good D.E.'s, & having good commands would've made the fight so much easier

It's Deebee. He doesn't use the game mechanics that Kingdom Hearts gives him. It has been consistent in every Kingdom Hearts game he has played. He didn't use drive forms in KH2, except Valor form so that was the only one he had levelled by The World that Never Was and he struggled so hard against the bosses there because he lacked the moves that come with them. He ignored melding, the arena and command boards in Birth By Sleep and never switched out his command deck until he had no choice otherwise. I know he's already beaten up to KH3, and I'm looking forward to seeing him ignore all the game mechanics there too.
