The Heart Of African Pride!! Unforgattable Experience With the Maroons Of Jamaica.
Jamaican Maroons descended from Africa Who Freed themselved from slavery on the colony of Jamaica and established communities of ree black ppl in the islands mountaneous interior, primarily in the estern parishes.
In st Charles i visited the maroon community and later went to Nanny grave who was a maroon fighter and also went to Nanny falls where i met the maroon men who shared their culture with me.

Jamaicans are beautiful people at heart. I love their being their hospitality spirit. That’s the African spirit in them. I’m from Zimbabwe Bob Marley came to Zimbabwe to celebrate our 1st Independence. Other groups followed Peter Tosh, UB40. A group called Mist in Roots came and refused to go back. President Mugabe gave them a farm to leave. Until now they are in Zimbabwe.

Wow! Thanks for sharing this info about Reggae artist visiting your beautiful country. I want to visit Zim one day. Mr. Mugabe did not get the honor he was due by us all. That's cause we did not know the truth about the great things he did. I know that he was not perfect but he stud up to the evil West and never waivered. I really appreciate that about him. We often over used the word EPTIC quite loosely and it is a word I seldom used pertaining to a vlog. In saying this, it was epic, absolutely your best vlog in Jamaica to date. It was informative, inspiring, a wealth of knowledge about the Maroons. It was touching to see Dee, an African woman paying homage to Nanny, an African woman. I promise if you go, you will want to stay. I visited for the first time in very a long time this summer 2023 and I was absolutely in awe of how lush the countryside is. Talk about the beautiful rural areas and vast amount of fertile land. It’s just amazing. I honestly did not want to come back to the U.S. The people are beautiful and warm. I can promise you this much, it is not like America and you will feel welcome and a sense of belonging.

@21:56 below the portrait of Nanny of the Maroon in the school there are words like AKWA ABA. Meaning "welcome" in the Twi language of the Fante people (who belong to the larger tribe of Ashanti people) in GHANA where NANNY and her four brothers are believed to have originally come from way back in the era of slave trade. They never forgot their roots and language. History is beautiful. Thanks Dee for this. Wode Maya should visit this place.

Dee indeed you're doing excellently connecting Jamaica with Africa and vice versa. There're similarities that remain and many others that had changed in the culture due to the impacted experiences of the trans-Atlantic voyages among others and also along with the scenarios played out on the plantations of Chattel Slavery. That experience has also fully impacted the relation of marriage by virtue of the original African background to readjusting with others including fellow Africans from different backgrounds (or ethnicity) along with the slave traders/managers (or so-called Slave Masters) of plantations. Therefore, in Jamaica as in the Caribbean or the Americas (Central, North & South) you'll or may find such similarity of marriage conducts different from the motherland Africa.
