That's a review for another day... today, we look at Deep Blue Sea, a tale of killer sharks but they get away with the fact that real sharks aren't so psycho because these are MUTANT sharks! Sharks are attracted to high contrast colors studies have shown. Red, orange and yellow especially. So despite what Decker says, the look of blood actually can attract sharks because it pops against the water so strongly. But, the scene takes places at night so very unrealistic to use that as a defense when the shark wouldn't be able to see it as strongly.

When that one female character talks about her father and his bout with Alzheimer's I never understood why she would keep telling her father his wife is dead unless she was trying to hurt him. I work with Alzheimer patients and if they ask about dead relative whether it be a wife or their parents we try to steer the conversation away from them or just say Oh They'll be back later or something like that we don't tell them oh that person's dead.

If i had to guess maybe they got what enough that they held a grudge.. because like was said if it's really escape they had a chance early on and one had once already lol . It's a bit odd.. like they were the smartest characters or bella was at least in the second the firsts sharks were pretty smart too but then they'd end up double triple dumb because plot -_-. But it's probably cheaper to have the movie in the location with them trying to survive\escape than the sharks breaking free in act 1, their smartest person disarmed headed to a hospital and them stuck with no choice trying to hunt down the sharks before it's too late with blondie deciding to eventually come clean after some deaths with how they're stephen freakin hawking sharks now

If she actually knew anything about alzheimers why did she tell her dad that his wife is dead, just to watch him get sad. She could just have said she is out and will be back later, he would forget and ask her the same question later.... rinse and repeat..... but you could also tell him the truth and watch him take that hit over and over and over and over..... guess she really disliked her dad since she choses to torment him like that.

Was just about to say that. When you have a relative with Alzheimers... play into their delusions. Basically, it make a difference to them for the time til they ask the same question again, and it also make it easier for yourself to keep your sanity.

Alzheimers doesn't work that way, someone could be lied to but then they would remember that the person was dead. The memory becomes kamikaze and they can remember some things but not others.

@@homelesshannah50 I think it depends on the person, the type of Alzheimer's they have, and the progression of the disease. My grandmother remembered much about her work and church, but had to be reminded constantly about family members and basic body functions. She once stayed awake for three days straight, trying to leave the house to go to work or the store. She actually got out of the house twice, but managed to somehow tell the cops where she lived, the second time she did it with a head injury. She passed a little bit over a year after she moved in with my mom and I. It was a learning, and emotionally devastating, experience.

He lost about 4 cars and the cops had to call him on numerous occasions because he said they were "stolen" when he just forgot where they were and they had found them. He was also lost for 2 weeks it was hard to keep track of him. What made is worse was that he was very independent even still I'm still pissed at my siblings for not doing a better job taking care of him.

One thing that bugged me about this movie is that the mako shark with stripes that had a liscense plate in its mouth and is later eaten by the other makos is supposed to be a Tiger shark, even though tiger sharks do NOT look anything like makos! They explicitly called the tiger shark a tiger shark in the movie. It was not supposed to be a tiger shark called a mako. The antagonist sharks are supposed to makos (though the CGI was far to wide to be a mako).

At which point he pulls his legs out of the water.. They had 1 female and 2 male sharks. So theoretically there could have been. I love the movie I know that it has many issues including larger brain doesn't result intelligence as the species need to learn it's still a entertaining popcorn flick. In ways it seems like a combo of Jurrasic park and under siege as a group of Sharks have unexpectedly taken over the lab with the crew having to evade the advanced sharks, or they'll die. Screwed with science with worst case backfire results while the science was to solve a problem cure a dreadful disease.

Just wanna say, with the scene with the electricity, she used her suit not because it was rubber, but to have the same electric charge. Lets just say that if you were to touch an electric fence, you would get shocked. But stand on a bucket, you won't get shocked. The ground acts as an opposite charge to the electricity and would attract. The bucket would then be the same charge as the electricity and will repel. So her taking off her swimsuit and standing on it made it so that she could shock the shark but she wouldn't.

You do realize the storm affected the plot right away The doctor in the beginning gets hurt cause a shark and they try 2 evacuate Him during the hurricane and it makes things complicated which they ultimately end up crashing cus of that + no 1 is able to get to them till after the storm so kinda like jurassic park

Yeah the facility would be swarmed by coast guard and naval units long before the next sift since the rescue chopper probably wanted help over radio before suddenly being cut off by exploding.

Actually the storm played a part in the movie. The storm made it harder for the medic team to save the male doctor with the strong winds and storm water damaging the equipment and the storm raised the water level of the facility which assisted by the survivors made the facility sink down for the sharks proceed to aim for the chain link fence instead of the titanium bars.

Okay, loved the first forehead slap and the "just for the XP" line, but I think LL Cool J was actually *rejecting* the thing about being black mattering when he ended that line with "brother" in that sarcastic tone of voice. Swimming up from 60 feet down isn't impossible. I've dived that deep to recover someone's glasses. You're at 3 atmospheres pressure down there, though, so if you dive from the surface the water pressure squeezes your chest and makes our lungs kind of smaller and they recover as you surface. If you were breathing air at 3 atmospheres and took a deep breath then entered water at 3 atmospheres and tried to swim up to the surface without breathing out, the air in your lungs would try to inflate them to three times their natural full size. This would result in a major biological malfunction. Going up too fast without breathing out is a real problem. In SCUBA training and in "escape from this helicopter if it plummets into the Bristol Channel on its way to the carrier for tonight's exercise" training, they really emphasise the heck out of the importance of not holding your breath on the way up. In SCUBA, they also have a rule about not going up faster than the bubbles you just exhaled, even if there's only one bubble because you got distracted, went too deep and ran out of air. I've seen video of a rescue in which the rescuer *deflated* the two fools' buoyancy control devices so they wouldn't ascend too fast. Decompression stops to avoid the bends are only necessary if you've been down far enough for long enough to get more nitrogen into your blood than (what it can hold at 1 atmosphere + what'll come out as you ascend). I saw it in the thears loved how the whole screen was so underwaterish and only then in 2D! And i have the DVd as well nowadays. But true at 16:06 the way you layed it out i never figured that as much about how they went from up top to down below again etc , mad cool.

Crap CGI shark? Buddy those sharks look ten times better than the shit Hollywood makes nowadays in 2016. Not to mention Jurassic World ripped off this movie the proof is in the predictable plot.

What I’m wondering is why the researchers would’ve decided to use something with the danger potential of a mako instead of something a lot smaller and more docile like a nurse shark which would’ve been a lot easier to deal with other than the obvious “because the movie needed a monster for the characters to fight”.
