So pleased to see this title! As a person with diagnosed Dysfunctional Breathing Pattern and asthma, learning a correct breathing pattern was life changing. I really struggle to follow breath led meditations. I think deep should be replaced with diaphragmatic. I would frequently get a blocked nose until I learned to nose breathe. The trick is to start with as many minutes as you can manage twice a day. I was lucky to see a Buteyko trained respiritary physio.

I'm a 64 year old opera singer. I have had knee replacement surgery on both knees in the last 2 years. For years before the surgery I could hardly do any really physical training because the knee pains were so bad. Between the two knee replacement surgeries I had to do a full cardio exam. I was sent to one of the top cardiologists in Basel, Switzerland. He couldn't believe the results (seeing as I'm 64) and asked me what type of sports I do. I told him my history with my knees and that I hardly did any sports. I then mentioned that I'm an opera singer and he said that explained it. He basically said that the deep breathing we opera singers do was what made my heart so healthy. He said that I basically have the heart of a thirty year old in a 64 year old body. So maybe deep breathing is not BS?? Also singers can't only breathe through the nose, we often have to take a lot of air in and quickly if we have to sing long phrases and so nose breathing is out.....

Hey Patrick! You did a Vlog on Jan 9th, 2020 "How to have 100% of our attention on what we are doing". I wonder if you could re-upload the same video without this loud distracting background music ? I wait for your reply! Thank you again!.

I have completely adapted to nasal breathing. Even at FT I have the same HR whether mouth opened or closed. I’ve just stared some incremental vo2 testing and I’m finding that my HR is the same at least up to 88% HR…need more data….is there detailed data in this already ? Lactate production at different percentages ? Increase in hematocrit? At what % should one move from nasal to mouth ? Should one always breath at certain % through the nose in a competitive environment?

I practice deep breathing everyday for about five times a day. My breathing test with pulmonary specialist was 105 he said I was Super Woman at sixty four years old.. Im so happy about my results being I use Flovent medicine about twice a week. Breathing right is so important and exercising daily !

What about exhaling through the mouth when doing breathing exercises...or should it all be done through the nose?

Wim hoff through the mouth and any other ventalative high flow, holotropic like ones. All others, nose and slow. I'm not an expert at all. But have tried wim's method with nose and my tiny nose can't get the volume required for the same effect.
