we are so close to hearing the new album and i wanted to post one last video before all is revealed!! today i wanted to do a deep dive into the Grief (Taylor’s Version) playlists that were posted on Apple Music and go through all the songs and lyrics that Taylor associated with each stage of grief. i think by putting these existing songs into different categories, Taylor really made us gain a new perspective on lyrics that we already know and love.
i also wanted to talk about the track lengths to see what else we can predict about the album before it comes out and also just throw in a few last predictions of what The Tortured Poets Department might have in store👀

Also, this seems incredibly obvious to me but nobody is talking about it: "And when I meet the band, they ask, 'do you have a man?' I could still say, 'I don't remember'" It was an on again-off again relationship, she doesn't remember because towards the end everything was muddy.

Lover being on the playlist reflects HER being delusional. Lover is a love song, and if you relate to it, it doesn’t mean you’re delusional as well or that it ruins it if it was your wedding song. The delusion was in how perfect it painted her relationship to be, even though in reality, her relationship was far from healthy and there were already red flags

So I know that everybody knows this, but I just wanted to write it down here. There's this poem, "L'albatros" by Charles Baudelaire. This is the last stanza of the poem, "The Poet is like this prince of the clouds Who haunts the tempest and laughs at the archer; Exiled on the ground, in the midst of jeers, His giant wings keep him from walking." Exile? Archer? The Poet? Clouds like Lavender Haze? "Giant wings keep him from walking?" Anti-hero reference?...hello omg?

I recently read the book Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, the book that Taylor wrote tolerate it about, and the songwriting fits the storyline so well! I really enjoyed the book and it was so interesting to read a piece of Taylor’s inspiration!

Am I Allowed to Cry? Is also my favorite of the playlists! They of course are all amazing but that one stands out. I actually, have a two different options of songs that showed the rocks of Joe and Taylor’s relationship. First being Dancing With Our Hands Tied, the uncertainty of the whole relationship seemed very telling to me. Second being Cruel Summer one of the first songs that talks about (what I consider) The Inciting Incident that she thought “working” through meant they’d be together forever, but they probably didn’t ever really work through she just gave in to whatever facade Joe was putting up.

@charleycollins1243 I totally agree that there are multiple interpretations of the song. In the song "peace" there's the line, "give you my wild, give you a child." She's talking about feeling like she isn't enough for this person she wants to be with. I think the feeling of wanting a child and not having one can be connected to wanting this relationship to last but feeling like it's outside her control. She's trying everything to keep them together, but it doesn't seem to be enough, and you feel her sense of longing and loss in both songs.
