Robert!… This is one of your absolute best (informative) works yet! An excellent example of “The enemy of art is the absence of limitations” -Orson Welles. Also, using things that you already own (“everything works with everything”). Funny how a rhythm and reverb gels things into music you can dance to. Drum Boy, and Halls of Valhalla (via Pico DSP) is in my hand sized “Modular For Everyone” (kids) instrument. We listen to very similar music. In my opinion this style of video meets your goals as well as The Unperson style meets his. Well Done!

I love filters for the non linearity when you change parameters, I kind of collect them, have more than ten because they are so different. The Behringer Blades clone will be the next. Befaco BF22 is my favourite, have two of them, they make my favourite complex oscillator. I grew up listening and trying to play 1930s to 1950s Blues, still my favourite music. And Soul up to mid 1960s.

My favorite filter is 100 gritt - ideal for destruction and sound design.

I was just playing that. Just got it a couple days ago. There's some sounds coming out that I've never experienced.

It's a blast to send in an overdriven signal and mangle or more. Mine picks up radio signals sometimes too..

My musical explorations are drawn from exposure to Wendy Carlos, The Beach Boys, King Crimson, Bill Nelson, Frank Zappa and Chopin.

Vostok Atlas is great and available as a (fairly) novice friendly thru-hole only DIY build 😊

Thanks for sharing! I did not know they were also in DIY.

@ all Vostok modules including Trace are available as DIY kits with all SMD presoldered, so it’s just connectors, jacks, pots etc. They work out around 30% cheaper, so if you’re handy with an iron and enjoying DIY you can save a few bob. If I was starting my DIY modular journey the entire range would be at the top of my list as you can build a complete starter system out of them

"... messing with his pitch shifting delay ..." Delays are another cheap deep-fried music cooker, besides filters. There are plenty of cheap options. Patch them, let them feed each other. Orchestrate. The sounds that influenced me were what came over the car AM radio and shortwave radio. The sounds of the atmosphere have their own magic. Of course there was Carlos and Switched On Bach, but for sound itself, it is the magnetic field of our planet that is the greatest resource.

My grown-up music tastes took the guitarist route: Jeff Beck, then Rory Gallagher, then Zappa. But before them I wanted a Synthi A- and I never, ever, forgot.. Still looking for that killer filter. I may have to invest in a Blades knock-off.

I came to "familiarize" myself in a world I'm not ready to participate in... yet. in the 70's-the sweet-glam rock with synthesizer. tubeway army...80's was metal, 90's Ministry Front 242 etc...Currently listening to Deep House Moscow podcast. Bought a Micro Korg 12 years ago. guitar was main gear. Sold it. sold guitars. Bought a Mavis 2 years ago. opened the floodgate -volca collection, Aira colextion.. TR 8-s, Crave, Moog Sound Studio, Spectravox/Lbyrinth.

Music? .. I started off with "Close To The Edge" by Yes .. then Radiohead & REM .. recently, Lord Huron has a nice sound. Dang .. I do have a Blades. By far, is the most under explored module, that I have.

Blades is a masterpiece filter and you can do tons of stuff with it, even without a VCO. Just crank up resonance and drive, turn cut-off down and patch one of the outputs into V/OCT. Audit the center output through FX and enjoy a new world of sound.

Cool. I remember being with my older nephews in the 70's, making me listen to Yes (Roundabout) and discover Pink Floyd and Kraftwerk. Personally, I went over the Edge when they did Owner of a Lonely Heart with Trevor Horn.

@@CinematicLaboratory Yes sir, .. there is alot of inputs available, aren't there. In general, in this whole pursuit .. the feature of clocking a signal, VCO, or CV type .. that alone, has been one of the most impressive, powerful aspects, that I've come across. Musical magic sometimes is near.
