Prayers to your family. I just went through a similar situation with my mother in February-March. Paid mom a visit, two days later brought he to the ER. A week in the hospital spending 14-18 hours with her everyday. Mom was inoperable. Brought her back to her home instead of assisted living. With COVID I would not have been able to visit her. So with mom on hospice I moved in with her and was with her when she passed. My moms last words to me were “ Hold my hand”.

Matt, I can relate. Currently taking care of my father who's 93 and on Hospice. You would think they would actually take care of people, but it all falls back on just one person= Me. Glad you have a sister to assist so you can take a break from the stress and go out in nature. "I bless you man". Life has many struggles. We seem to some how make it through them. Keep smiling.

@Mark Hepworth As someone that works in hospitals, I agree but time and a place man. It's like if someone came to your dad's funeral and began just starting political drama with people for no reason. Even with good benefits and insurance, if hospitals are understaffed they're not bending over backwards to help a patient in hospice when there are other patients coding or if they're spiraling. Even the best long term care facility will have patients stewing in their own poop for hours because they only have like 2 aides for the whole facility and a handful of nurses for over 100 patients. Employers know this is borderline criminal and that understaffing floors will reduce quality of care and in turn may harm many patients but they don't care because it saves money and adds to profit margin. The fact that hospitals refuse to give out like a measly 2% raise that actually is a decrease in pay if calculating inflation but will pay nearly 5x as much for travel contracts kinda shows how broken the system is (and why nurses are all quitting for travel contracts) While healthcare for all will absolutely help many people who cannot afford insurance, premium insurance will always be better for an individual if they can afford it and it doesn't magically solve all the problems people think it will.

Man, I couldn't understand it any better, I went through the exactly same story with my dad. One day he had kinda stroke, one week later we found out he had this grade 4 gliobastoma tumor in his brain. We fought together as a family for 2 years and as you said: it's way too hard to see this member of your family like powering off each day. Finally my dad past away on my birthday so, I send you all my positive energy left that I built during all this process. I'm a big fan, for a long time and thanks to my dad because he liked and he tought me how to fish. In his honor, I wish you the best, always my friend. From Chile with love 🇨🇱

I feel for you. My father was committed to a hospital. Now he is in physical therapy. They dont know how much longer he has. After years of hating him for so much. I had to put things aside cause he is my father. I had multiple days I am not myself and nature always helps.

Hey brother, Your story sounds like mine. Lost my dad about 10 yes ago. He got me into fishing. Lost my mom to Cancer. Hardest thing I have ever been through. I'm moved from the States to a small island in the north Pacific. I fish a couple times a week. I have found that I enjoy time by myself like never before. Fishing gives me peace and calm that I need. Love the outdoors alone. Your videos always give me a contentment! Thank you! I wish you comfort and better health for your mom.

If it's of any council, my dad recently passed due to small cell lung cancer (via smoking). These words you say strike me strongly in a good way. I completely agree to the sentiment you take on your moms situation. say what you need to say before time gets away from you. I also amongst others are truly sorry to hear about your mom, I certainly wish her the best. I just found your channel today actually!! I am now subscribed!! thank you for sharing your words with us. fishing, biking and being outdoors is a great healer for when all seems too much to handle. I wish you and your family well. cheers!!

That's not good, I understand Matt, I lost my parents, my father at 9 and my mother at 18 from cancer. And I agree say what you need too, cry and say anything. I have unleft things said, I'm 30 now. And I'm sorry but I'm not one to bullshit anymore. No miracles. Be there as much as possible bro. If I could go back in time...to tell myself to stop pretending things will be OK and to visit my dad or mother more while they were in care. I would have. I miss them so much I still cry if I think about it too much. I have regrets I can't forgive myself for even tho I'm aware it's not my fault. Ps don't make videos then, but please, your community cares so just leave messages or something to let us know your doing alright mentally and hanging in there.

My mom also has a diagnosis of GBM. She is still here 7 years later and tumor although there is unchanged. Short term memory is bad but all things considered we are thankful for each day. Been a subscriber of yours for a long time and your videos have helped me personally in terms of self reflection (and I don’t even fish) on many levels. Prayers and rosary going out to your mom and your family. God has plans for those he loves that we just sometimes will never understand but He will provide peace.

Great advice. I feel that not showing more love or saying "I love you" everyday to my mother is what I regret in my life and I will live with it until I meet her again. That wont change. I feel your pain, I hope for a better situation for you. I hope you learn how to live with what you're left. Good or bad. We can only learn to live with what we get. Peace and love my friend.
