The tune prior to this one is called The Mule (Live in Copenhagen)...it features one of the most iconic drum solos by Ian Paice. I'm traveling to Stuttgart in a few months to see Purple one last time...then on to Romania to see Ian Paice and the tribute band Purpendicular. Don't ya just love Jon Lord running that Hammond organ through those Marshall amps! Gawds, I love DP!

Yes the Mule from this same concert. I think its 9 mins. Some reactors only do the 5 min. something . The whole 9 min. jam is the best.

Monsters, all of them. To me, Jon Lord's keyboards were the heart of the band, but there's just so much energy and quality coming from all of them, and they're clearly enjoying the hell out of what they're doing, too.

You are right about Lord. But, I can say this, not sure who is playing keys now for DP, but in 2018, I caught 2 shows with Judas Priest. In Cincy, DP blew Priest off the stage. Very first concert of their N. american Tour. Then flew to Biloxi and seen to see the 16th show. Priest was on fire. But the dedication keyboard solo to Lord was phenomenal, and the guys playing in both shows. RIP Lord.

Richie Blackmore giving that Fender Strat a real workout, like usual. And Roger, Jon and the two Ian's just killin' it. Feeling "Lazy". Even if you don't like long songs, you will like "Space Truckin'", by Deep Purple, which is a very long song. A whole album side, so you are warned. But you will still love it.

I think Strange Kind of Woman from this same show (Copenhagen, 1972) would be a good choice. Fun to see and hear the interaction between Blackmore and Gillan. This show also has the best live version of Space Truckin'.

Machine Head is such a great album. I was lucky to see DP live in Tamps in '72/73. They were awesome as expected, but an unexpected treat was their opening act - a band we had never heard of - ZZ TOP !!! WOW - they really blew us away, early ZZ was the best IMO. An excellent cover of this song is done by Joe Bonamassa on guitar and the Killer Jimmy Barnes on vocals.. I think it's better than the original.

If you haven’t done Space Truckin’ live yet, then that is a must. 22 minutes of improvisation from Jon Lord on keyboards and Ritchie Blackmore on guitar, but there has to beca shout out to Ian Paice for the mesmeric rythym he maintains throughout the long instrumental section. Interesting thing about the version I have attached. It is a live performance from Copenhagen in 1972 but the middle section of the audio is actually from the Made in Japan official lvie album. A very clever mashup video, you would never know the audio switches from the live show, to Made in Japan and back again. Here’s the link… kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHOvhHWDfdudbK8

Check out the early DP with the original vocalist Rod Evans ,a song called ''Listen, Learn, Read On' and '' HUSH' if you have not done that already ..A song from Born album called ''Lay Down Stay Down''' is really good and with the other vocalist David Coverdale and Glen Hughes...DP switched up quite a bit with the lead singers and the lead guitarist founder Ritchie Blackmore quit and Tommy Bolin came in on lead and made the album Come Taste The Band which is a good one but strange without Blackmore on it ..
