Bruh, you felt the power of the middle riff hypnotize you (one of the greatest riffs in rock history), don't let it throw you off. They bring it home with that riff in a mesmerizing way and Lord's keyboards. Not all finales have to be with a high note being hit. Bruh, this is their signature, this is a rock classic! Keep up the good work!

BEST CONCERT I'VE EVER BEEN TO! February 20th, 1985 Richfield (Ohio) Coliseum. I was in the second row, center stage. The keyboard player, Jon Lord(RIP), was rocking his setup so hard, I thought it was going to fall on top of us and crush us! Thats how close we were. The local rock critic, Jane Scott(RIP), was sitting right next to me. The best part was that I was the one who got the tickets because my sister was in the Belkin Ticket Club and would get first choice at the seats. So, I had 4 tickets and intentionally told my 3 friends that were going with me that we were in the lower level, second row. They didnt know we were on the floor, and were flipping out when the usher kept walking us farther and farther down the steps and then all the way to the front of the stage. My ears rang for 2 days and I'm pretty sure it is the reason that my hearing is not so good these days. And I would not trade those memories for anything... P.S.--their signature tune is "Smoke on the Water"

It's a great song, not by delivering any kind of knockout blow, but just by being an awesome, strong mid-paced song to seriously groove-out to. If you notice that the transition to that classically inspired groove sounds familiar, it's because Deep Purple put that in as a tribute to the Led Zeppelin classic "Kashmir." Next by Deep Purple, please do "Knockin' At Your Back Door" from the same album *Perfect Strangers.* If the title song was something new for Deep Purple at the time, then "Knockin' At Your Back Door" was somewhat of a return to previous form, albeit in a newer, more modern way. KTF, I luv ya!! 🤘

It's a great song by one of the most under appreciated bands in rock n roll history (expect by their fans) filled with five of the most under appreciated musicians in rock n roll history (again, except by their fans). I saw them on this tour in 1984 and it was something I thought I'd never see as I was a "late" DP fan, and figured they would never come back after 1975's "Come Taste the Band," which I didn't discover until 1982 or so. Check out their stuff from the early 1970's when they were true monsters of rock n roll.

We must always look at all these songs in perspective. Rock and Metal somehow is a new genre in constant evolution step by step has been formed with the discovery of something that for us is new over the years. A band discovers one thing, and that remains as a base, then another band discovers something new on top of it. Since you've been listening to in a random way because people bee request them, sometime you have been listening to something very sophisticated from now and then something older that could sound weaker. Deep Purple (60's-begynning 70's) is the ground base for what came after. 70/80's Iron Maiden. 80's Metallica. 90's Tool and so on. Greetings from a latino living in Norway. Your channel is very cool, you have the same reactions as me when I listen to those songs!

Hey Preston, this album from Deep Purple is the Reunion of Mark III of members with Gillan (singer) & Glover (bass) returning for 1984 reunion. Gillian & Glover quit the band back in 1973. Jon Lord was the keyboardist during this album. Jon Lord died in 2012. Ritchie Blackmore left the band later to start new band or reformed Rainbow. Through it all, Ian Pace (drummer) survived the whole ordeal. Deep Purple had other singers during band's time with David Coverdale who formed his own band, Whitesnake.

And nice to see quite a few others immediately knew the Shane Douglas connection, except in my case I only watched him in a dying WCW which he still came out to this song.

Perfect strangers is probably one of my most favorite Deep Purple songs. (I grew up with it, saw it live). Your hit list should probably include: Pictures of Home - (It's like a Spaghetti Western in your ears). Burn - (Way better than Highway Star IMO, Classical meets DP). I'd probably pick 'Space Trucking' before 'Highway Star' or 'Smoke on the Water' just because the latter two have been overplayed and used commercially.

I've suggested this tune to you a few times long ago.... The album "Perfect Strangers" was criminally underrated (from 1984) and was possibly the best rock album to come out that year...along side of Van Halen's "1984" album. I knew you'd love this particular track.

This song, particularly the iconic guitar riff, is just brilliant. The absolute best cover of this song is done by Dorn, which is ironically on his album “Dio.” Jorn’s vocals are incredible, plus he puts his own signature on it to make it unique. I urge you to check out “Knocking at your Back Door.” The beginning of it has been used in countless sports as an entrance anthem. Another great, great song.

Metal has "Tribute Albums" where newer generations of metal bands cover a band's catalog. A Deep Purple one was released called "Re-Machined" that has Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black label Society Et .al. doing DP's songs. Nativity in Black 1 &2 are great tribute albums to the work of Black Sabbath. I would definitely check out System of a Down's cover of "Snowblind".
