I remember driving around in Liverpool, Jul 1971, still reeling over the Beatles break up, April 70, and Maggie May, his first hit, came on FM radio. I had just spent 10 years fixing guitar amps and microphones to produce quality undistorted sound (faithful reproduction) and her was the most gravelly voice I'd ever heard. THE first 12 inch vinyl that I bought with my own money ❤. 1978. I HAD the shiny spandex pants-pink-wore them to the Rink. Back in the day SO many "rock" groups had put out a disco song (Disco forever); this was Rod's. Got into Rod early in my youth. My step-dad was a huge fan. Love Rod and realized early the talent this dude had. He made some amazing tunes. Check out - "Tonight's the Night", "Young Turks", "Forever Young", "Hot Legs", "Baby Jane" and so many more. You had to have confidence to wear the pants that we wore back then. Jeans and other pants were tight. Not everyone could get away with it. Music pushed boundaries back then without a lot of people getting their sphincters wound up so tight. We just had fun!

Me too! He always danced around on stage, and I used to wonder how he sang and danced like that and didn't run out of breath! But I read an interview and he said he had to work out in the gym to be in shape to do it. He also said he would lose 6-8 pounds during his concerts. ❤ I finally got to see him on my 50th birthday when my husband surprised me! ❤ Twenty six years ago! 😂 I was always playing his music loud when cleaning or cooking! ❤
