Roger Glover is my third favorite bass guitarist (right after John Entwistle and John Paul Jones) and this particular solo captures everything from technical bass playing to using distorted feedback to create different kinds of sound.

This is a really good solo, in my opinion, because it sounds like a bass and not someone playing a guitar solo on a bass. It maintains the bottom and heaviness of the bass while still showing some flashy topend. Rock on, Mr. Glover!

He is an amazing player . Gets the crowd into it, what a showman. Don't underestimate his ability. It's perfect for deep purple and rainbow. If you ever have any doubts about how good he is listen to his solo album Gillan and Glover you'll hear some funky bass on that. He plays all styles of music on that. By the way it is an excellent album from song to song they cover all different types of music that they love.

This is the first time for me to see roger glover bass solo, i saw deep purple live twice but i don't remember that he played any bass solo, he knows to play bass, that's for sure, but he's not a modern bass player, i mean he's not playing any tapping tech like most of the bass players from the eighties, but his style is good enough for deep purple, so he's good enough, thanks.

Why why and why the bloody hell didn't Roger Glover play such fantastic solos on the early Purple albums??? They would've bumped off every other band to take the top spot. Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore had a lot of solos. If only Glover also had his share of such solos. I imagine a Deep Purple song similar to Child in time where the song takes off slowly with a Hammond solo by Lord, thn Gillian starts singing, the power of his voice progressively increases. Then Jon Lord plays a solo on his C3 after which Roger Glover plays a fantastic solo on his bass backed by Paicy's incredible drumming following which Blackmore starts off with his solo shredding his yellow Stratocaster. This idea isn't applicable today but it just crossed my mind that if they all worked as a team instead of the infighting, they probably would've taken top spot.

@joaquinlezcano23722 жыл бұрын
@@Martsapso21 when it comes to marketing, bands like Kiss, Guns and roses and My chemical romance are equal monsters. Yet the only members that get some showtime and recognition for the average fan are the singer or the guitarist (or both). That doesn't happen often with Zeppelin, partially because of marketing (yes) but also because all the members have their moment to shine in their songs. Even John Paul Jones.

And what difference does it make if he plays with a pick? Plenty of talented players play with a pick. Hell, Tony Levin sometimes plays with a pair of drum sticks. The quality of the player and their parts is more important than is whether they play with a pick or fingers.

Pick just produce different sound. If someone used pick = they just want pick sound or get more comfort while playing bass.
