Ian Paice and the Mark II Deep Purple doing it to it. Paice sometimes gets overlooked when folks talk about best drummers ever, usual suspects John Bonham, Keith Moon, Neil Peart, Joey Kramer, Mike Shrive, Bill Bruford, but Ian can hold his own against any of them. Thanks for the shoutout Craig, and nice Grogu shirt.

Enjoyed this one! Deep Purple were one of my favourite bands when I was a teenager. Ian was definitely a top class drummer (he later joined Gary's band of course). Best drum solo? Depends on personal opinion of course.😁 Anyway, really enjoyed this, thanks. Take care and kind regards. 😊😎🎸🇬🇧🇺🇦

There is no best drummer! Ian Paice is just one of them. Neil Pearth maybe another. If you wanna hear great drummers - listen for the jazz drummers who inspired Ian Paice like Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich. Neil Pearth and Ian Paice both played at Buddy Rich memorial concerts. Also listen for other jazzdrummers like Roy Haynes, Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Jack DeJohnette and Marcus Gilmore :D

Sorry Craig, there is no debate. 😀 The undisputed GOAT is Buddy Rich kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5bWiHpsdpuaY80

Yeah but Buddy Rich was a Jazz Drummer, these guys are Rock And Roll Drummers, it's a different thing. Not all Drumming is the same.

@@bobschenkel7921 That's fair and Paice is certainly up there with the great rock drummers. I tend to prefer music that blends and fuses different genres, so when thinking about stuff like that genre melts away for me.

@@daveseidnergd Where do you rank the bands with Double Drummers like The Dead and The Allmans. Both of those bands have pretty diverse playlists. Of course Bill Kreutzman and Mickey Hart have the more varied styles, but Jaimoe "Johnny" Johnson and Butch Trucks do a very nice job keeping up with the rest of the Brothers.

@@bobschenkel7921 The Dead are my favorite band. I love how Billy and Mickey can get completely in sync and play these driving polyrhythms that seem to push the band into peak after peak. The Other One is kind of the perfect example of that. As much as I love what they both do, some of my favorite Dead was with just Billy. Bill has this great swing and could turn on a dime with the band. I do like The Allmans, too. I’ve only seen them live three times and have listened to them sporadically over the years. Not to the extent of The Dead. The Allmans are all stellar musicians. I’ll have to pay more attention to the drumming next time I listen to them.

@@daveseidnergd Good answer. I'm with you in that The Dead are my favorite band, only got to see them about 50 times though, not enough. Seen The Allmans quite a few times too, but Jerry and the boys, I never saw the Keith and Donna version live, are my numero uno.
