Deep Space Nine Battles (Long video, no crappy music !)

I compiled all my favorite battle scenes from Star Trek Deep Space Nine to create this video.
Unfortunatly, footage from certain episodes could not be included due to KZbin`s video time limit.
Namely, "The Die is Cast", "Defiant", "Shattered Mirror" and "Valiant"

+BonScottAC It urks me how many ship starfleet had and the show only focused on 6. Then you have people out there making things up about ship losses that they do not know about. An example of that would be the Galaxy class. Only one ship was lost the Odyssey... Many ship could have been used.. Frankly I would have loved to see the New Orleans take a role...but Miranda are you kidding me.. You right it was capital punishment!

I've nearly finished the 1st season of DS9 (finished TNG previously), and have read quite a few Dominion War novels. I could only watch this video 1/3 of the way because it is too awesome. I will now go back to watching DS9 in agony until I see a single Jem Hadar face onscreen.

I may not be the biggest fan of DS9 but I'll say this for it: They had the most spectacular battles of all the Star Trek Series.

Dominion weaponry was always shown as being able to fire straight through Federation shield technology. At the most, during the war the Fed Alliance (Federation/Klingon Empire/Romulan Empire) amped their shields and weapons up. But, even with relatively new anti-Borg tech like the USS DEFIANT, they had to struggle in real-time dogfights. Thus, the urgency and threat of the Dominion War. And thus, DS9 for the WIN. :)

I find it fascinating that sometimes the ships have shields and can take a shitload of hits without damage. And then later not a single ship has shields and they are destroyed by a couple of hits.

They also lost a large number of ships in their fleets. There also called an episode "Sacrifice of Angels". It was a suicide mission. They knew they would be out numbered maybe even 20 to 1. Who knows. They just knew they would have to blow a hole through the Dominion Fleet to try at any cost to stop the mine field from being destroyed. The mine field was destroyed but the only ship that got through was the Defiant. With no choice the Defiant took on the entire Dominion.

Possibly. The Mirandas with the lowest known number were the Lantree (NCC-1837) and the Reliant (NCC-1864). Now the Enterpise NCC-1701 is generally assumed to have been commissioned/luanched in 2245, meaning it had already been in service for over 20 years at the time of the Original Series. That's plenty of time for enough ships to be commissioned for registriy numbers to be AT LEAST in the 1800 range. I'd also point out the Grissom's registry was NCC-638 and Oberths are still around.

When the Dominion was first introduced, one of the first things they explained was that they could beam and fire through shields. The Federation managed to stop the beaming-through, but I'm not so sure about the weapons.

The dominion particle weapons at first punched right through starfleet shields but they developed their shields to compensate just like they did with the Breen energy dampening pulse...but looking at the fleet make up starfleet had a bunch of old but i hope retrofitted excelsior and miranda class mixed with weak sabe and norway classes...I counted three Akira class starships in this whole vid and maybe ten at best Galaxy class starships I think I saw one nebula class...starfleet got caught with its pants down building saber Norway and Nova class ships when they should've been building Akira Defiant and sovereign classes hell they have what one Prometheus class??? The romulan and klingons were more prepared the D'deridex warbirds are wickedly powerful and the vorcha and birds of prey speak for themselves.....

Birds and Romulans have been associated since TOS. The TOS Warbird from Balance of Terror even has an eagle painted on it. Also if you look at the Klingon Birds of Prey you'll notice feather-like details on the "wings."

A little more information. The weapons and shields were upgraded extremely. Normally Federation Shields didn't work at all against Dominion weapons. It was like the shields weren't even there. That is why they had the upgrades that weren't energy shield related. The shields on Deep Space Nine wouldn't have had a chance to protect the station but they were some how made to repel the Dominion attack for much longer than they would be able to normally.

I am so excited for the new series I have been hearing some awesome things for Example in the new series we will return to the original universe post Voyager after Romulas was Destroyed and After Romulas was destroyed the Romulans want revenge against the Federation so the Romulans will become a significant threat then also in addition to that there will be a Multi Universal War with some mysterious threat so we may see the Mirror universe again the Terran Empire vs the Federation I heard that this new massive threat will Destroy whole universes and the survivors of those universes will make it to the original universe then they may cause trouble and become a threat to this universe, also heard that this new threat will be so massive that Admiral Janeway may have to go back to the Alpha Quadrant get the remaining Borg and let them assimilate the federation technology so they become more powerful then ever and help the Federation fight this new threat but then latter on they will betray the Federation so the enemies will be everywhere and that sounds great.

That's because in the second battle they had more precise phaser banks compared to the first one, If you notice in the first battle they missed an awful lot of targets so they fired more torpedoes to make up for that, in the second battle they didn't need to use to much.

It was specifically said in "The Jem'Hadar" that Dominion weapons can penetrate Starfleet shields (hence why the Defiant has ablative armor). Yes, in "A Call to Arms", DS9 had developed shields that could withstand them, but who knows if the Dominion didn't subsequently develop stronger weapons? Much like the race between stealth technology and detection technology, no one probably holds an edge for too long before the other side catches up.

Individual Mirandas are easily explained away as being used for things like interior patrols (think coast guard, search and rescue) or supply ships - the Lantree in TNG is explicitly stated as being a cargo ship, for example. Way of the Warrior had one shot of Fed ships and that was Excelsiors. First Contact takes place during the Dominion War chronologically. By Inferno's Light was when the Fed was expecting a Dominion attack, so reactivating Mirandas for numbers holds true.

The Cardassians were under the impression that they would be equal partners with the Dominion, when in fact they were consumed by it. Cardassia became little more than an occupied world, the main base of operations for the Dominion in the Alpha Quadrant. Damar was furious with Weyoun for sending thousands of Cardassian troops to a senseless death, as little more than a diversionary tactic.

What you saw was a Akira class who's outline was used in the creation of Archer's Enterprise so they look a bit similar.

Sovereign class is also very much built for combat. Ablative armor, redundant regenerative shields, type XII phasers, photon and quantum torpedoes. I wish we had seen them in the Dominion War. I guess they didn't want to upstage the Defiant.

First Contact does NOT take place during the war, but many months before, There WAS a Miranda in "Way of the Warrior" Pulling some old ship out of mothballs and staffing it on short notice for "By Inferno's Light" would take longer than diverting some ship already in service.

Sovereign absolutely did exist by the time seasons 5-7 came around, which is where most of the battles took place. First Contact is set in 2373. Geordi mentioned that the Enterprise-E had been in space for over a year. Season 7 of DS9 is set in 2375. There had to be at least 2 Sovereign class ships in service by season 5.. The Sovereign and the Enterprise.

Because they're really old and have a tendency to explode a lot, mostly. My personal theory as to the presence of the Mirandas: 1) Starfleet built a lot of them because they're smaller than Connies 2) They got decommissioned 3) "Oh shit, we need ships! Slap some upgrades on those mothballed frigates and get them to the front lines!"
