I was listening to this podcast while doing a 17 km run on a dreary winter day. I heard the message of awe and gratitude of Deepak and the example he gave about the baby in the airport which smiled and broke everyone's tension. 5 minutes later I ran by a family with a small toddler. The mother was holding the child over a fence to have the infant pet a pony which was standing in the meadow. The child let out a happy and exciting sound which made the parents and grandfather smile when I ran by. This moment of perfect happiness filled me so much that I literally started crying of happiness. I chocked up and could barely breathe while continuing to run 😅. Deepak's message was embodied at that moment for me. Thank you Deepak Chopra ❤

I have had that discussion with my sister many times over the years. She feels guilty if she sits down to read a magazine article. She tends to wear her business like a badge. I on the other hand do what needs to be done. I’m responsible. I maintain a home & a vehicle and I work, but I always have time to relax. I always find time to read a book, Listen to podcasts such as this. I feel sorry for the people that feel guilty for taking some time out for themselves. I feel sorry for the people that constantly have to be productive, and they feel guilty if they didn’t do anything for several hours or even the whole day for that matter. I work in the caretaking field. I take care of elderly people in their homes. I have to take care of myself, so I can be my best for them. A lot of people don’t realize this. When you don’t take care of yourself, you’re not your best for anyone else.

I agree. It was not a bit but quite a lot frustrating to observe that with a question, a valuable depth of information that Chopra was ready to share was totally lost. It is always better to allow the guest to speak with as flexible and as less diverting questions as possible. I consider this interview as very unsuccesful in that respect but still, the information we get out of Chopra and the interview is very valuable. It seemed like a child interviewing a brain surgeon on the nature of the surgery. Chopra’s ability to convey deep thought despite this limitation is admirable. So sorry, this is not simply a criticism but suggestions for you and you can view them as a source for learning. Lessons you can get: 1) Why that appeal to ask us to follow the channel and soo long? Why also such a looong break for sponsors. 😡😡😡 There is a way too important guest with such deep information and I would run after the channel without skipping one interview. Allow us to decide. For you sponsors, you could have done it in the end. It was rude your guest. (I did not subscribe the channel just because you forced us to do so. Didn’t like it. The sponsors, I did not listen. Didn’t want to.) 2) Do not interrupt or change subject by a question. If you are about to ask a question, just wait a bit more and say …can you elaborate more on what you said? You will be surprised on how much depth the speaker will give. It should also be congratulated that you already convinced Chopra to have an interview with you. That in itself is success. Yet I expect you to be a wizard of interview. It wasn’t the case now. You can.
@az-my9zx Жыл бұрын
@@newvision-6 i think it is alk about perspective. First, the constant advertising to the sponsors and the channel itself comes from needing this actions so the podcast can succeed, this is pretty common in every media. Also, he conducted the interview the best he could having in consideration that he is no professional in this type of subjects. Deepak is an unique character that's very complex in many levels and I believe he did the best he could to get as much info as possible. You cannot expect a monk to interview a scientist like he's one of their own.

It’s easy to get stuck in the mindset of progress and leveling up and constantly working for more. This is a reminder that the real important thing is internal peace. You can have internal peace no matter what is going on externally and no matter what physical belongings you have. Inner work is the most important work.
@sumukhgupta1921 Жыл бұрын
Nailed it, I think it's why meditation acts as a remedy to most problems. One of my favourite paintings (which I can't remember the name of, maybe it was "peace") depicted a man peeking out of the window happily at a storm surrounding him. Peace is internal, and nothing can change or affect it.

Absolutely incredible conversation. What Deepak is trying to explain is virtually impossible because there are no words to describe the formless awareness he is talking about. How he has managed to stay sane during his life of being ridiculed, laughed at, jeered, and labelled as crazy is completely testament to his genius and wisdom. It's now absolutely so wonderful to see him at last getting the recognition he has always deserved. And well done, and thank you, Steven, for asking great questions and giving Deepak the necessary space and time to answer in his very relaxed and distinct way 🙏🏼 my favourite podcast to date ❤️

@@Adipsia1 I believe the saying you are referring to is attributed to Albert Einstein, not Carl Jung. The exact quote is "You cannot solve a problem from the same level of consciousness that created it." However, Carl Jung did discuss similar ideas regarding the need for a shift in perspective or consciousness to address and resolve problems. Jung said: "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate."

Deepak Chopra -- the Original Spiritual Gangster. There won't be another one when he's gone so enjoy it while you can! Just flipped through the comments and I'm so very happy to see so many people appreciating Deepak, some for the first time. 97 books. And they're all great. He's a remarkable communicator, humble, always wants to work *with* other people in a variety of fields. Not to mention the cover of his first book was and still is the most beautiful book cover I've ever seen -- seems petty now but when I saw it on the shelf at the Bodhi Tree bookstore in LA way back when I was shocked by it's beauty. Deepak Chopra has opened more minds on this earth than everyone else in the business combined and everyone else is in some way imitating him, knowingly or not. The difference with him is that he's old school and he acknowledges and appreciates those whose shoulders he's standing on. Nowadays everyone claims to have invented the wheel. Think about it. Peace.

I came across Deepak through the exploration of Mindfulness. His responses to Steven's questions may have been a little deep, well that was my experience when first discovering his teachings. If anyone listening would like to understand the points further perhaps a starting point would be to explore mindfulness. As Deepak said when questioned about the lorry driver, taking time each day for yourself is the best starting point for understanding we can, with practice ,calm our minds. It took me 60 years to realise I had been on the stress mill of 'doing' and not 'being'. I have a great quality of life now, stresses still occur but I have the tools to 'detach' from the screen of the situation and calm my inner worries. Thank you Deepak, thank you Steven.

It’s fascinating,I think of all the new diagnosis of ‘new’ conditions etc. it seems obvious that it’s all a direct result of the way modern society is,all the stresses and trauma ,the diet and lifestyle and pressures and poisons. For me this was a big WOW moment,because I just realised how our own species is harming itself/ourselves. I loved this interview. Deepak Chopra is amazing,a light came on for me. Peace and love to all🙏🏻❤️🥷

So good to see Deepak Chopra back again.. he probably never left but definitely fell out of my radar. I liked that Stephen didn’t just pretend to get it.. I only felt that this could’ve been more dwelved into. I will be listening to it over and over again.

Indescribably insightful and powerful - the secrets and solutions to any life issues we seek in YT will be found in this conversation. So timely and relevant, a contrast to the ‘despite all’ eulogies of Jerry Springer this week (and I don’t even own a TV). One of the best interviews of Deepak Chopra. I see the crystallization of his life work coming to fruition, and can’t wait for enough insights from him, going forward. Thank you, Steven for bringing this to us. You are a genius at this. Good luck!

A man in my church , gave a word on sunday , he said ," we have lost the wonder , in nature ,in kindness , he said he looked at a tiny daisy and saw how intricate but how beautiful it was , lets be more child like as though experiencing nature particularly for the first time . I can cleanse my mind with a walk in the countryside , simple things . Relive the wonder xxx

I believe we exist in a reality of opposites, meaning for every concept we can think of, there exists an equal and opposite concept. Each concept and it’s opposite occupies a shared linear continuum. For example, the concepts of left and right exist on the continuum/plane of direction. And while the goal of ultimate peace, harmony, justice, good health, etc… is desirable and should be pursued, it will never be fully attained; only marginally improved upon.Thank God men such as Deepak are attempting to do exactly that. What a noble pursuit.

It is funny that Deepak was speaking of awe being the greatest emotion, and this episode brought much awe in its content. All I was thinking about when Deepak was answering about how deeply spiritual all of this searching and healing is, was about Alan Watts and his ideals...then at the end, he mentions one of Watts books 😄 what a great episode!

He's had a great career! He simplifies things that have become complicated. As the distractions around us increase, the need for a person like Mr. Chopra in your life will bring about a sense of balance.

Once in Lisbon, I passed by a building which was literally pulling me in with this amazing energy. Once I got in, I realised Mooji was inside teaching. I kid you not, the energy in that place was vibrant and so calming.

It's quite broader, wonderful talk 32:18 spiritual 33:06 be unoccupied for some time 33:50 reflect (who am I? what's my purpose? what am I grateful for?) you are more than social constructs 34:11 such education can be a part of culture 35:53 daily healthy habits - sleep - exercise for mind to remain quite - physical exercise - mind body coordination exercise - emotion regulation, social relationship - nutrition, non-processed, non-toxic, - spiritual experience 38:23 experience of crisis in Chopra's life 42:54 justify sadness (denial, belief, faith) 43:34 invisible is source of visible 43:46 four ashrams theory (four stages of life) 44:50 what happens after one dies 45:50 physicists believe infinite number of universe 46:30 you evolve 46:46 reincarnation (just like recycling of matter, energy, information) 48:02 karma (memory recycles as desire, desire recycles as karma, karma is experience) 54:57 happiness = s + c + b 59:00 sometimes take a leave, take a break, (human being vs human doing) 59:50 to alleviate suffering feeling of friends just listen to them empathetically (just like good therapist/psychologist listen carefully; don't get hurried to give suggestions; acceptance, affection, appreciation, attention) 1:01:39 forcing for positive is stressful, just observe positive and negative 1:03:00 success 1:04:31 focus on strength ----- be the change you wish self-awareness is better than information overload ----- - kid play: innocence, creativity, joy, laughing, surprise ----

What a wonderful guest. And how amazing to watch SB try and, IRT, figure this out. His exploration for more self knowledge and understanding ( and not pretending to simply accept and understand what is being taught without question and fear of looking ignorant himself) helped me work though this complex ( only so because we are programmed to resist) on how to simplify my thinking and to achieve a life with less stress. Honestly I have to watch this again. And maybe again in order to fully understand this really useful information. But it’s worth it. Thanks for a great show. Again. I love podcast Mondays!

Steven, you and your team are the absolute best in terms of preparing the questions and everything else. Watching you having a genuine connection with the most beautiful and vulnerable layer of every single one of your guests, it’s truly touching. I have a request: could you please consider adding subtitles in different languages? I’ve personally enjoyed and learnt from your podcast a lot but I would love to share all this knowledge with my parents too (Chinese). Thank you 🙏🏼 ❤

I was sitting on a bus. Rush hour weekday. Nobody is talking, it's raining and this woman had a toddler on her lap. A man sitting opposite her got up because we were approaching his stop. The child looked at him , gave the most beautiful smile and said 'Bye Bye'...the man looked surprised for a second and when he finally smiled back, the emerging SUN couldn't be more beautiful. It was a profound moment. The entire bus smiled all the way to the metro station. Something about how I viewed the world changed in that moment, and I have no idea what shifted, and more than that am happy that I have never forgotten it. When Mr. Chopra talked about play and the innocence of children, that came to mind.
