I hope nurturing your senior employee's creative brilliance doesn't come at the cost of their teams' and subordinates' mental health, which is usually the case with these "brilliant but disorganized" characters that companies let roam and do as they please. I trust they are not simply hyper-ambitious egomaniacs with just enough competence to bulldoze their way into a higher status and pay bracket at the cost of other people's well being.

Alhamdulilah, as Muslims we meditate 5x a day for 5-10 minutes. Completely detaching from everything worldly. I couldn't imagine my life without this peace. To the people who don't know what meditation is or how to start. Sit in a quiet place, have words that you repeat to yourself or affirmations. Ask the Creator (Allah, Nature, the Universe) whatever terminology befitting for you of your needs and have a conversation. You're engaging with your core self when you do this. Your inner self, and honestly it's unmatched.

I agree wholehearted with you.. I only really use the internet as a learning tool, so many experts to learn and heel yourself. Addiction has took so many years from me. Also ive damaged my heart. The mind is powerful. I said to myself im better than this so i detoxed myself off heroine by myself with no medical help and funny enough my family were all away on holiday. My family thought it was impossible.. But my attitude and mindset was unbreakable. Three weeks of what i can only describe as hell on earth. Then i gave up smoking to. I smoked for 35yrs. I changed my diet and workout every day. I look good and im starting to feel better and more confident. Now im thinking i am powerful and what else can i do moving forward. Id just like to say to anyone suffering from addiction..only you can do it and its so do able....also learn to love yourself and let the past traumas go, you can't change it and it will stop you moving forward to the great life we all deserve.

I wholeheartedly agree with this and yet am saddened by the belief that so much of our youth attention spans are being high jacked by at best senseless, at worst toxic, short hit unfocused streams of media i.e. tictoc. @naiyalexic Жыл бұрын
For sure. I made it a mission years ago, after over 20 years working for software corporations, to start avoiding jobs which require constant speed and productivity, because it's an unrealistic pace long-term. It's not that I don't want to be productive, or that I'm lazy. I can see pushing to get a project out, but when it's expected daily-weekly-quarterly-yearly, it ruins people's sanity. As a sidenote, people also tend to judge us for having a degree of emotional mastery that allows us to pause and think before we respond, even when we're angry. It's like, "What? Why aren't you ANGRY? I'm angry! You should be having this reaction too! What's wrong with you?"

When you find yourself thinking about past mistakes, turn it into a positive learning experience by thinking of ways you could have avoided making that mistake or how you could correct it, if possible. Then immediately move on to doing something positive and beneficial for yourself. Even if you’re not feeling very optimistic now, start the practice of living your best life. Plan and prepare to do something productive tomorrow. Leave a reminder note for yourself that you will see in the morning, set your alarm, get up early tomorrow and do it. You can apply for employment at various places you think you would like to work, check into learning a skill, organize your living space, join meet up groups that do activities that interest you, etc. Training yourself to be more positive takes practice and with consistency it soon becomes your new way of life. The benefit of living a better life and feeling good about ourselves is worth the effort.

I have thought this for so long and it was good to hear it all verbalised. I was partying a lot to run away from anxiety r always trying to call friends, but I was very unhealthy myself, and the reason was sort of a pain in the chest and thigns I went trough while growing up and I had to stop this clip to say: yes , I got angry on my self , was sitting in the bed, and like mentally went in my chest and asked my self - "what is it?" and then was the first time I started to understand myself from that point I used to do that with my eyes closed, and realised its meditation. I really appreciate someone talking about this in a podcast I randoomly clicked on. 34 now, recently engaged, happy and studying data science. Meditation is important. Wish u all the best

Hiya! Thanks for sharing all your experiences. I have done quite a few courses of Vipassana meditation and I have never seen someone describe it so well. And I think you sharing your own personal experience is very powerful to hear especially when you say ‘yeah man, I just wanted to run away for the first 7 days.’ There is power in vulnerability and as you say in compassion. I stopped in the middle of the video to write down this comment because I felt very moved and inspired by it. Also, what you said on liberation was quite beautiful. Another thing, when you talk about shame - I would share it with male friends of mine who are keen on gaining wealth by any means - but it is making them lose themselves and it is great to hear that people are doing ethical businesses and still doing that. Purpose you know! Thanks again!

stillness is always a good start 😌🙏🏼 - meditating is the door to awareness, peace and freedom. you get to know yourself and you feel the effect of it through others. you do it for being in balance, you do it for the people around you and for yourself. sometimes when I miss some hours of sleep or feel overwhelmed or exhausted, I meditate for 20 minutes and feel good and calm. headspace is useful. so ask Andy Puddicombe to be a guest at DOAC? I meditate since 1989 and got lots of "eyes" for it, when someone found out. I learned it from a guru - and I was just curious about how my mind works.

When you want to change and you've committed to action, you already are changed. The difficulty is FEAR of change which stops you committing - wanting to change not wanting to change ❤

Very good point, you have changed from as is to as was. Then you act accordingly. People fear change even if it is obvious positive change.

Intentions over goals! Intentions can be built on ambition and directions, and don’t repel the best possible outcomes if they change. Loved this interview and I did an at home vipassana and that was difficult. I wrote when I needed to communicate- but can see how deeply my feelings were felt. Very powerful transformation!

Thank you Steven and to Diego Perez who is so remarkable in what he shared in this podcast! Meditation is really the best ever to unlock all possibilities and be the master of oneself ; heart and mind! I’ve been meditating for years and what it does personally and to my environment and everywhere I go is a total miracle each day. So thank you, I’m so grateful for all the knowledge I learn . ❤🙏🏻

Parents not speaking English is common life story for most of the population in Australia mate. I was born in Australia and didn't learn to speak English until I went to pre-school. I've done 10 day vipassana retreats. It's been incredible.

My life was turned inside-out, upside-down on 1/9/07. Realizing my belief system allowed me to be in denial, the beginning of my healing was to believe in nothing and to question everything. Life has been an amazing journey ever since.

Years ago, I met Pueblo, and all I remember is how incredible I felt talking to him. I had no idea who he was, and at the end of our conversation, I took note of his name and decided to find him on the Internet later. I've never run into someone with that kind of calm but invigorating energy again.

The importance of moving more slowly - the CORPORATE world does not or seldom tolerates any such idea - but great to hear it said, so much I have put it into words: "To be able to look at your life and say you know what, I can't answer any more emails right now, I do not feel good, I need to go for a long walk, or I need to meditate, I need to take some time for myself, it is absolutely a radical act, and it is necessary, because if you are trying to live a life of thriving, like a good life, then you need to be able to live that life at your own pace. If I am trying to match your pace, then it is not going to work for me, you and I are very different people. We can both be productive in different ways, but we have to do it in ways that honour our internal systems, and we are just not going to be the same."

The sense of chaos is a powerful measure of your capacity to find clarity where people are defeated by the way their perceptions are framed. Living in chaotic contexts is a skill that cannot be pushed to the back of the class and by taking that challenge on is proof that determination and stubbornness are marks of the entrepreneurial mindset.

This is what the world needs, soooo happy about this conversation, thank you both...... Have a theory about why one wants to keep on even though one has achieved so much, I believe what is hardwired in us is a strive for more, whatever that 'more' is because we are part of infinity, we are striving for more infinity..... anyway, I loved Stevens answer.... loved this podcast and will now start meditation seriously as wanting more in every aspect.... wanting to be bigger than little me..... sooo inspiring....
