Correction: the third track is unofficially called “rhubarb” (“radiator” is the second) Ah Warp. This was the label that defined my college years (though I started getting into it my last high school year). Your overview of the label is why I love listening to it and continue to follow it. And I even have some key crown jewels: the 20th and 30th anniversary box sets. But I also think that Warp is the godfather to the vaporwave and broader underground music scene. After all, a lot of the artists in it can cite at least one Warp artist they either like or have been a huge influence. But also that relentless and fearless creative attitude is there in the scene just like it is there with Warp. And yes, you wouldn’t have nostalgia and music without Boards of Canada. Here’s to thirty more years ... decades ... centuries? =] Finally, my label suggestion would another label I followed whilst in college and that would be Constellation Records, the post-rock and politically charged label based in Montreal and famous for housing Godspeed You Black Emperor.
@slateman1184 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! I also reccomend Constellation.

As someone who's been listening to Warp artists since the '90s I really appreciated this! Wonderful episode! I've been collecting music (in almost all formats) going on 30+ years now. Many favorites on on Warp Records. Perhaps my favorite is Vincent Gallo - _When_ solo LP. Of course Aphex Twin - _Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2_ is tops, as well as numerous other releases. But Gallo's album never strays far from my stereo. A bloody brilliant unique example of how Warp Records releases quality music, no matter the genre. I could easily list numerous other Warp Records albums in my collection (been re-listening to the Two Lone Swordsman _Stay Down_ DLP today.. so "good good double good!") but my first thought, Zen thought, about Vincent Gallo's solo album is debatably my favorite. On a side note: I still have my theatre ticket stub for his film _Buffalo 66_ (where just like his solo LP, he did most everything himself). Gallo is a renaissance man, if ever there was one. _Peace&JahBless_
