I'm black and I never really put much thought into Fergie being in the Black Eyed Peas. She didn't give me culture vulture vibes or anything like that. She seems like she genuinely loves rnb and soul and that comes out in the way she sings and performs. She has pipes! I still listen to her solo work to this day.

Nobody can deny that their best moment of success was with Fergie and I don't think they can have that same level of success again. I'm not saying that she was the reason why they got famous but it's obvious they had a connection with Fergie, they had good chemistry with her

In the first album Nicole sings most of the lead vocals and harmonies but Carmit and Melody also sing in some songs. Kaya Jones sings only in 1 song (we went as far as we felt like going) and there's some background vocalists featured in some of the songs. The second album is mostly Nicole too but all the other members got to sing background vocals in the songs.

As a Peabody myself, I’ll tell you, you did a FANTASTIC job at telling the history about the Black Eyed Peas. Usually videos about BEP get framed in a way that is unfair, which sucks, because I know better. I know how hard they’ve worked to make it mainstream and how tough their lives were prior to the success of the BEP. I also know that a big part of their legacy is giving back to the communities that shaped them the way they were, way before people actually expected those things.
@jeanmichellelaurent

BEP are way too overrated, even I pretended to hate them to come off as cool, I'm aware they did what they had to do for success, but they still kept their message, creativity and unity. The best thing fergie did was to record those songs with slash. It was the time when she proved to the mainstream that her voice was actually powerfull. In black eyed peas everybody had the idea that she was a bad singer... but you can't sing well if your vocal cords are exhausted or if you have the kind of lifestyle she had with bep.

When i found out that Nicole was almost in the group I was always curious about what that would've been like. I think she would've been great honestly and it would've been a better launch pad for a solor career for her. But destiny had other plans.

I was 12 years old when I first heard "Where is the Love" It reminded me of that Marvin Gaye song "What's going on?" I loved songs that make people think 🤔 and gesture kindness to each other❤💯 So impactful 💯

Oh, I loved listening to "Monkey Business" as a kid. I remember it was the first pop album that I really, really fell in love with. Some lyrics highly inappropriated to minors, but I couldn't speak English back then 😂 The songs are still fire tho 💯

@@lamccurdy2100Agreed. She has a unique scream. That doesn't mean she can't sing, it just means that I think she tries to force her voice to do something it doesn't want to. When she does that, it sounds awful. Her National Anthem performance is proof

I was a casual fan of BEP pre-Fergie. I was a hater when she joined. I then saw them perform live, opening for N.E.R.D (minus Chad) and I was made a believer after seeing Fergie in-person. I immediately bought that album after that show. Elaphunk is a classic imo
