Kicking off a brand new series of University of Reading Public Lectures for the 2024/25 academic year, Dr Dominic Lees will trace the development of 'generative AI' and discuss its potential cultural and social impacts.
Live-streamed in front of a sold out theatre audience at our award-winning Whiteknights campus in the #UK, Dr Lees will look at the rise of AI technology being used in film and television, asking if audiences now need to look out for fakery wherever they see or hear recorded media.
Dr Dominic Lees is an award-winning film and television director and is Associate Professor in Filmmaking from Reading's Department of Film, Theatre and Television. His recent work has looked at the impact of AI on actors, the use of deepfakes in documentary film production, and the emerging aesthetics of AI-enabled media.
