This series continues to be such a joy! It was frustratingly exciting seeing you inch closer to the tram pass and solving the conundrum you'd had over the last couple episodes. Here are a couple mechanics-based tips based on things you did/found/questioned this session: - The dream nail can indeed be used on friends and enemies (at your own risk), who knows what you'll uncover? - If you're worried about finding all the orange trees you stumbled upon before, there is a map marker for whispering roots in Cornifer and Iselda's shop that should point them out. - When you interact with a whispering root there's no time limit to collect the dream essence, just parkour through the area and grab them. The red glow and dreamy particle effects don't disappear until you collect all of the essence in that area, at which point you'll hear a loud chime to know you've found them all. - When you update the map it fills in interconnected chunks, rather than colouring in the specific paths you've taken/rooms you've been in. This explains why (thanks to your map markers) it showed an area with a bench near the top of Deepnest that you hadn't been to before. - The way the game unfolds kinda means that a lot of the "early game" is exploring expansively and feeling you've barely scratched the surface, only to later use the new items and abilities you've unlocked on your journey to re-tread past areas and uncover more - so don't stress too much about missing things! No two Hollow Knight experiences are exactly the same, and the order in which you've discovered and accomplished things is already so different to my own time with the game. It's what makes watching playthroughs so fun!

Just a heads up, but simply by walking into an area, it'll get filled out on your map, even if you just walked in and immediately walked out. So your map will make it seem like you've explored an area that you actually haven't. Just something to keep in mind whenever you're backtracking or just back in an old area!

Since you already have encountered where the heartbeat comes from, I'll remind you: it's from those yellow things that give you an egg. You kept hearing it in Waterways because each time you saw that thing, you turned back and didn't get the egg from it

There's a notch in the Fungal Wastes you missed. It's in a room already "explored" in your map, but you didn't fully explored. Also... there's several places in Green Path you missed. I recommend looking at your map and going to these places.

yeah, a new episode :D ! I'll give you just a small tip, because it's something you might never find about, the downward spell used to break floors is really useful in battle because it gives invincibility frames, like a lot of them. So you might want to get used to using it in hard boss fight :D

Zote the self-proclaimed-Mighty is immensely annoying, but if you can find it in your heart to rescue him yet again, the game will reward you. NPCs can have their own quest lines, tied to game content, which would be a shame to miss out on. So, if you can be bothered, maybe give the grumpy “knight of great renown“ a hand?

Excellent! The idea to escape the terrifying places by going to Deepnest is hilarious. There's another way to enter that place, which is by accident and which is how I entered it my first time. Imagine how terrifying that is. There is no build up and no way to turn back immediately. You're just in the middle of the bad stuff. Have you noticed how much better you've become at platforming? That elevator shaft at the end is a pretty tricky section to ascend. Not the trickiest by far, but for casual sections, it's not easy at all and you crushed it. Glad we got this today, even if it means having to wait longer for the next update. Looking forward to it.

You're discovering a lot of new areas, so I would like an episode where you re-explore some old areas (like Forgotten Crossroads and Greenpath) more thoroughly. There are plenty of discoveries that can be made, and discoveries to be made later (you can mark those). I think it would be a nice change of pace.

A few tips regarding the dreamnail: 1. In addition to using it on enemies, you can use it on npcs and even some statues/objects/corpses! It doesn't deal damage to anything--it does something else that you'll figure out. 2. Using it on enemies fills up a third of your soul meter. Which makes slow/stationary enemies quite helpful because you can basically farm soul from them. (The thing that makes the heartbeat noise, for example, is a free way to fill up your soul meter. And also those invulnerable large long bugs in Deepnest are a good source too if they're traveling vertically.) 3. You can now buy a pin from the map shop that shows the location of those trees with dream essence. There are also other ways to get dream essence which you'll figure out.

@@Emmalition if you're wondering why Cornifer left before you could find him in the Resting Grounds, its because that forces you to visit Iselda so that you'll see the new pins! Just a small QOL thing that really shows how much Team Cherry cares about their players!

A small tip! After you fought the Dung defender, there was an exit to the right that took you to the huge shaft. If you follow the green, flowing line from that exit, you might find something useful.

For real, I have played and even beaten Hollow Knight several times, even done a Steel Soul run and everytime I need to go to Deepnest I take a break from the game for a while! The devs really made that place a fearful, dreadful and unpleasant place to be. I didn't even go there the 'normal' way the first time via Mantis Village either. And somehow missed Corrinfer in both his locations, so no map. God that place sucks.

Many of the projectiles in the game can be destroyed or deflected, like the dung defenders s*** balls. Also you can hit him in the air. That's probably one of the things that made that fight so tough.

I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this, but there is a quick cast control which is better to use for spells, it can be mapped in the settings tab. This is better than using the heal button since the heal spell will fire on button release while the quick cast fires on press so it is much faster.

Very well done! Getting the Tram pass was but one way to exit deepnest. However, the tram pass is something that quite a few people miss just because deepnest's atmosphere is, as you said, horrible. Don't hesitate to try to find everything you can with the tram pass as well. There are more things to discover (not that you have to find them all immediately, obviously. Your journey through the game of Hollow Knight isn't mine or anyone else's). In any case, the dreamnail too, eh? That's actually part of one of the dlcs, but it's one that they seamlessly wove into the game, so don't worry about exploring what it has to offer before doing other parts of the game, it's meant to be done alongside everything else. Hope you continue to enjoy the game! Lots of bosses to fight and things to explore left still.

I know you like to hear lore, so a couple of suggestions: for one, there is a huge thing you missed in greenpath that holds a lot of lore. then also, try using your dream nail on enemies or bosses, plus to back to the trees once you've finished them and dream nail those. Lots and lots of lore. And as someone else suggested, there are lots of things to discover in places you've "finished." I would suggest going where your new abilities (dash, mantis claw, lantern even) allow you to go. And if you ever enter a space that is large with lots of room to jump around in, like the first place in the resting grounds and the elevator shaft you were in at the end of the video, there is likely a dream tree hidden nearby. That's a good source of dream essence to get you started.

When you fell forever in deep nest and landed in a hot spring, your relief is a common feeling. However, it is very, very possible to stumble your way to that hot spring through the darkness if you go there without the lantern. Once you sit at the bench you are stranded there, and the escape is brutal!

Wow, you've discovered so many areas in this episode. Here's an important tip: Desolate Dive spell (the one you got from Soul Master) is actually giving you s and deals good damage. Don't hesitate to use it. Actually it was especially important against the Dung Defender but well... :)

Minor tip: try to be more thorough in exploration, for example reaching train/tram spots and not exploring further. You might miss something critical this way, in various spots in the game but you know that. Anywayz, if you ever plan to sell stuff to buy charms, charm notches and even mask shards and soul capacity upgrades don't forget that you can do that in anytime in the game and it might make the playthrough a little easier for you. In case things get harder just leaving this here as a note. When finding trees with essence you are supposed to collect all of them and then go back to the tree. PS: you are doing great!
