@@HFG. I agree, you need to be prepared for the shot. My comment assumes that he was. I’ve seen other videos of him hunting and practicing and I believe he was prepared for the shot but not able to get it done in this circumstance.

Me personally, I wouldn’t shoot over 30 yards but this is only my third year hunting. That’s what I’m prepared for. I’ve shot up to 50 yards on a target but would never take that on a deer. But I’ve seen it done and believe yappy could do it. Just didn’t get it done.

Having a bad shot from time to time is something that happens. Not looking or even telling us you exhausted every option before giving up is not ok. Every hunter even if you have a ranch with trailcamras everywhere. That deer needed to be tracked till you cant track anymore then grid till you cant grid anymore. Yes show the good and bad but you always look for the wounded animal!

Not hating on yappy, people take shots that don’t pan out, but it should have been handled as a teachable moment to viewers that at that distance and making noise to stop him, deer have a very high chance of dropping. Add in the quartering and it’s even worse of an opportunity.
