Robert, About 5 minutes into your vlog I found myself tearing up because I realized what you were about to do. Some of your subscribers may be wondering to themselves why someone would start tearing up about deers being relocated. To me your effort to try and reestablish the sambar deer population in Northern Marianas is honorable, noble, and a Godly deed. Simple as that. I read several of the comments and some of them are quite sarcastic. It's probably because they don't know that sambar deer is on the endangered species list of the UN, or are native to tropical and subtropical environments such as the environment in Pagan Island. Or could it be that they weren't paying attention at the introduction of your vlog when you mentioned that there was a typhoon recently that came through the Northern Marianas that nearly wiped out the sambal population of the Commonwealth? Do these people even know that the islands of the Northern Marianas are a U.S. Commonwealth, therefore the natives of these islands are U.S. citizens and that the currency is the mighty USD (US$)? Maybe you won't say this to protect your subscribership but I will. I bet these subscribers/haters never paid attention in Social Studies, Geography, or US History classes. I am even willing to go as far as to say that many of them never paid attention in English class just by the way how horrible their grammar and spelling are. Alright enough of that. Then I read a really negative comment about the Governor R. Torres and I started to shake my head and ask why would someone even make a comment like that when your vlog is about rescuing an endangered deer species. The Governor and his Secretary of the Dept. of Land and Natural Resources truly were very helpful in providing the resources that you needed to get the deer secured and transported to Pagan. The misconducts or innuendos that these men may be implicated with has no bearing and are irrelevant to you vlog! And as far as I know the Constitution and Laws of the United States governs and rules over ALL OF THE UNITED STATES, its Territories, and commonwealths including Guam, American Samoa, Puerto Rico, USVI, and Northern Marianas-more particularly speaking, our individual UNIVERSAL and FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT to be PRESUMED INNOCENT until PROVEN GUILTY, BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT! I'm not a lawyer and I am not stating anything new here. I'm merely stating things that should be obvious and things that should be common knowledge to all. I really don't want to leave it here where there's a tinge of negativity so I'll say this in closing. Although I haven't watched the entire series of your journey to the Northern Marianas, at the outset (this second vlog of the series) you've already stated how much you've grown to love and appreciate her people and their culture. It is obvious that you want to make a positive impact and that your intent is to do good as opposed to the opposite. Keepe'm coming and thank you for sharing your adventures! God bless you and your family brother.
Wow... that was really interesting information that most of which was NEVER taught to me in ANY class.

this was done illegally by the arringtons and the cnmi govt. your tearing up is wasted on ignorance.
@saipanbugman95844 жыл бұрын
Its not being reestablished in the Marianas. Its not endangered in the Marianas and its listed as vulnerable under the iucn not endangered. Furthermore that only applies to its native range. The Marianas is not its native range. The only mammals we have that are native and endangered are our two bat species. Both of which the governor would rather shoot and eat than save.

Very well said!!!! I am one of those who are ignorant of geography. 🤷 I never did like that class. However, I didn't leave a snarky comment, either. Thank you, for stating this. It is really sad in this day and age that people have to be so uncivilized to one another. This was a good deed that these men and women have done, but someone always has to be hateful. This is why our country is so divided. The hate needs to stop. I just found this channel yesterday, and I could see from the first video that Robert loves what he does and is very passionate about it. If everyone had the attitude of this man, we would be a much better society. I mean, I already feel like family, and I just found them about 24 hours ago. Hunters and fishermen are better for our environment, than organizations like PETA. These men know the true cost of over/under-population of any species. They love the sport, but they have an immense respect for the animals that they hunt, too. Again, thank you, for stating what you did in this post.

"There's never been deer EVER on this island" = NOT NATIVE. Introduced deer and goats are huge problems to delicate island ecosystems, especially in the CNMI. As a field researcher working with native CNMI birds I'm devastated to see that these deer have been released on Pagan. I'm not against responsible and sustainable hunting by any means, but these sorts of manipulations of ecosystems are grossly destructive and conservationally negligent. Such a shame.

And yes deer are a part of the culture on Rota, Saipan, and Guam(I have hunted them there so to think I'm a bunny hugger would be incorrect) ever since they were introduced in the 19th century . The problem is that the native species like fruit bat and coconut crab and the special local birds like the golden white eye (found nowhere else) and the megapode which were a big part of the native culture before colonization can't compete with the introduced species. Sure they can withstand a couple of introduced species, but you never know which one will send a species over the edge into extinction. Native wildlife is CNMI culture. Rob, it seems those deer are invasive, and letting them loose on that island could endanger the local flora. Could you go and catch them again, or hunt them before irreversible damage is done?
@deermeatfordinner4 жыл бұрын
There are hundreds of wild cows and pigs. Once the Deer population is established, they will be a huge source of income through tourism and hunting. They will not harm the island!

How ironic: saving deers with a channel named “deer meat for dinner” LMAO 😂
@jonathank52894 жыл бұрын
If you don't manage the deer population properly then there would be no deer to hunt. Break the hunting laws and you face harsh penalties. Hunting season isn't year round. In some states officials actually kill thousands of deer etc. so they don't die of starvation in winter.

Yes, ironic. Our governor is also passing if off as promoting ecotourism. We also have a law that prohibits this. But our governor and the arringtons ignored and broke that law.

I think you are a great person and I appreciate everything you do and love how kind you are. However I feel it is important to note that you could be seriously ravaging an ecosystem. The deer could be very destructive to the environment on that island. Unless you have done a survey of the island making sure that they won't completely destroy an entire environment, I fear this may have been against the island's best interest.
@lukestinem36104 жыл бұрын
@rudolfo hermosilla Yeah, but if I think about all the problems invasive species have brought about, I can't help but fear it won't be a good place in history. I hope you're right, though.

@@johnbender5846 He has. Dont comment on something you don't know what you're talking about. Nothing rob is doing in this series is to harm the islands. There is a secret meaning to this and you'll thank him if you ever find out.
We have a law that prohibits what arrington did, but our governor also broke the law and allowed it.

Beautiful video!! I didn't know much about the island chain there, and I can see this whole event is a big blessing to educate more people about the islands and the people of the Northern Marianas. Really awesome! Thank you for sharing your experiences!

Our governor and the arringtons broke the law when they transported tame farmed deer to Pagan. They introduced an invasive species to Pagan. These deer were used in the pretense of setting them free after typhoon Yutu. In reality, there are no wild deer on Pagan, ever. This was a promotion of a hunting youtube channel that profited the arringtons only. We will have to deal with the destruction of habitat with these deer, but most likely they will be killed since the show is over and the viewers fooled.
