This is possibly my favorite Def Leppard song, and my favorite one to sing. The lyrics are very artistic, and I just love the beginning lyrics. “Somewhere in the distance. I hear the bells ring. Darkness settles on the town, as the children start to sing…” I’ve seen Def Leppard in the round twice in the 80’s. They’re my all-time favorite band.

I was there, twice for this tour. You have to realize, this shit was live! They had no autotune back then, and the harmonies are real. All of the harmonics that Steve and Phil pulled off are real. What really really sets this band apart from other bands of this genre during this time was that the entire band was singing and they knew how to sing! The drummer, the bassist and both guitarists sing backing vocals. Nothing more gets the spine chilling when you have incredibly talented guitarists that can swap between rhythm and lead in an instance and trade their roles just like that and also being able to add that CRUCIAL backing vocal skills that makes the rest of the sound even better. That more often than not is were legendary and good shows are set apart.

I got to hear them from their beginnings in early high school...best era of music ever was the entire 80s andit's not even close. People didn't have just everything thrown at them...you like country or you like rock n roll and concerts wee everything...no itunes or KZbin or Shazam or things like that...rock n roll and MTV made life better when they still played music.

If you want to hear everything the Def Leppard embodies, listen to "Bringin' on the Heartbreak/Switch 625" ... technically these are two sperate songs, but to get the full Def Leppard experience they must be listened to back to back (as they are on the album... and as they were meant to be experienced)

This is the first reaction video of yours that I’ve watched, and I commend you on your comments! 👍🏼 Though a couple things you should make a note of: 1. Steve Clark (the lead guitarist in this song) sadly and tragically died just 3 years later of alcohol poisoning.(you didn’t mention it, so not sure you knew that.) This song was his baby, as is Bringing on the Heartbreak and Switch 625, which are also epic classics you should check out! 2. There were several shots of Rick Allen playing drums, and it should be noted that at age 21 he lost his left arm in a car accident just 3 or 4 years prior to this! He basically re-learned how to play drums with one arm, and did it while the band spent months in the recordings of Hysteria, one of the biggest albums of the 80’s and one of the most classic rock albums of all time! I’m pretty sure his is the greatest comeback story in rock history! But lastly, kudos for pointing out the lighters! There was nothing like it back in the day. It’s still cool with cell phones, but I’m sorry, not the same! I didn’t smoke, but I made sure to have a lighter with me at every concert! 🔥
