Hey Julius, how can we solve the "direct" channel source problem and attribute the traffic/users that's getting categorized as "direct" to the right source/medium? Can we solve this problem with GA4? I think if we can, you are the only person to identify all of those steps we need to take as you are really the best :)

If you mean third party payment processors just add them in the referral exclusion list, just the same as UA.

There was a confusing line in this video. You mentioned at 4:44 that anything that is not recognized as anything in the list goes to referral. And then at 5:14 you said, it goes to unassigned. A bit confused here. TIA.

Hi Julius, is there a way to filter reports by item ID or Product and Default channel group? Currently, it only allows first user campaign. It's really not helpful to me to know the overall revenue and quantity by default channel because I have more renewals than new business purchases, but am only interested in the channels by new business product, so it's really skewing my data.

It means that you have a lot of custom values in your UTM parameters. Refer to the GA4 docs to find out which values are supported by channel groupings

Hi Julius, thanks for the amazing video! I wanted to ask question since this has bothering me for quite a while, I had most (90%) of my conversion events in GA4 not only it gets attributed to Unassigned but the source/medium is also (not set), is this because something wrong with how the website passing out its referrer? or it's because something else? thank you!

I believe your medium/source is not set because you need to set the UTMs to your URL. If you DM me, I'll be glad to help.

I was looking for the same thing. Based on the documentation referenced in the video it says "Channel definitions aren't case sensitive and can't be edited."

I still don't understand why even manually tagging links for 'cpc' and source=fb or facebook some paid social traffic still goes to referral sometimes. Also bugs me why some organic social traffic from l.facebook or m.facebook goes to referral and not organic social...

@@Guilopes99 i know it's a problem. So it's only a tiny portion of users who can potentially visit your site from device A (utms), then revisit from device B (no-utm), then again see your ad on device B. Or they might navigate to your social profiles and click the site from there. There are many options, but of course, they will not explain it if the majority of traffic is referral.
