Links to replay the hands are below:
1. EAST Discards Keep one card in partner’s long suit if you think you may get in again tinyurl.com/y7s... - also protect your Kx. If both defenders have kept hearts, declarer should not risk the spade finesse, and will be held to 9 tricks.
2. There is only one club trick available to the defence, so East must overtake and lead into dummy’s weakness. tinyurl.com/l7f... Otherwise declarer has at least 12 tricks.
3. Partner signalled MUD, so does not have a doubleton. With that strong diamond suit in dummy, try to take some clubs. tinyurl.com/m67...
4. Plus one on You lead a D from A 10 8 7 4 who has QD, when JD loses to KD. tinyurl.com/2b...
5. WEST What should West play on the 3rd club. East discarded a low heart, so should NOT have A or K - declarer has those, so your QH should be protected! tinyurl.com/y4... tinyurl.com/yt...

That last hand, number 1, was really interesting, thanks. I think your analysis was really helpful. I suppose you could say there was a generally good idea to NOT discard in the suit your defense partner has discarded? But as your questioner pointed out, you can get in an awful pickle with high encouraging, low encouraging, card number counts and his actual system, DODDS? But thank you as always for guiding us through the swamp with plain common sense!

A couple of comments: I don't think your links apply to the hands shown in the video. On the fourth hand where you lead a diamond to 3NT. Wouldn't the principle of restricted choice suggest that your partner rather than declarer had the QD since declarer could have played the Q rather than K to win the trick?

Thank you for your interesting question. I have updated the links so they are in the same order as in the video. Restricted choice! An interesting question. If declarer has KQ, he should really always play the K. If he plays Q, then West should work he also has K (if partner had KJ, he should play K). I don't think Restricted Choice applies here, but I would be interested in other thoughts!
