If he has anything like a semblance of self-preservation, he'll offer the tenant whatever it takes so as to get the matter dropped before those "witnesses" have to present. I'm not sure it's even possible to avoid it now ... and I hope he doesn't even try.

This is exactly what happens when we haven't been given the whole story and only have a few snippets of the facts. We thought we were dealing with a shifty landlord and all the while it was the tenant who lied and perjured himself. This reminds me of another of Judge Simpson's hearings where the defendant came to the Zoom driving in his car; meanwhile, his license was suspended. There's a whole nother backstory to that hearing, but it was much of the same where the defendant told mountains of lies and even went to the media to proclaim his innocence, thinking Judge would never find out the truth. Anyway, I'm glad we now know the whole story and the landlord has been cleared of any mis-truths his tenant told about him and we were led to believe.

That happened once to me in a case against a neighbor who intentionally damaged my car. He showed up in court in shorts and a baseball cap. The judge admonished the defendant, adjourned the case for the day telling the guy to show up to court dressed appropriately, and ultimately ordered him to pay to have the damage to my car fixed based on estimates I was asked to provide to the court.

@@Seashelle564 Check the channel. The sequel is already on there. It literally opens with the defendant confessing that he lied and took the money. He still insists that he was locked out but his credibility was completely shot and nobody believed him anymore.
