If you do a simple google search, what’s even more telling is how many Massachusetts State Troopers have ended up in prison due to misconduct. I know of 2 separate cases where people were sent to prison for years, one 22 years one 36 years, and have since been exonerated. Both were due to trooper misconduct. It still blows my mind that the Feds made it clear to this judge “Ms. Read should not stand trial” and she completely ignored them, even went as far to say “I don’t have to listen to the Feds”. At least her refusal to dismiss this case is allowing the bias and corruption to be in the spotlight.

It's less about corruption and more that the judge is just an imbecile... I've been in criminal defense for 20 years. I've never seen a verdict form without a "not guilty" option, even for a lesser included offense. Cannone's suggestion that this is how they do things in Massachusetts is one of the most asinine judicial statements I've ever heard. And that's saying something since, in the jurisdiction I work in, judges routinely show up to court drunk (I've even got a video of that on my KZbin channel). Verdict forms typically have the words "guilty" and "not guilty" underneath or next to the main offense and each lesser included offense (LIO). The jury is instructed that they must not choose anything for any LIO unless they've chosen “not guilty” for the main offense. A verdict form with only a "guilty" option is something you see in an episode of The Simpsons. Not in actual courtrooms. Also, even if verdict forms with only a guilty option on LIOs is standard, it's still inappropriate for a judge to be combative about addition of a "not guilty" option at counsel's request. Cannone snapping at counsel in response to this reasonable request -- and worse, at the defendant herself -- proves the appearance of bias that the defense has been alleging from the outset of this case. Ultimately, it's not just that Cannone is an imbecile. She's insecure, overcompensates for that insecurity with an ego, and is extremely stubborn. That is a dangerous combination in any profession. Certainly, someone who is like this has no business adjudicating criminal cases.

Welcome to what the rest of us are terrorized by every single day. This case is not a rare occurrence. Us poor people have been screaming to the rafters about the rampant bad faith of police. I am so glad you took off the blue line glasses and learned to see what the rest of us live with our whole lives. We are tired of being told we are just trying to get away with crimes and we should shut up and take or prison sentences because cops are saints that do no wrong. So many people sit in court and take cops word as God because that's how they are treated. Meanwhile, the rest of us are berated and dehumanized, and once we are on the brink of insanity we are paraded in public like trophies to throw stones at. This case is just one person lucky enough to fight back against the cops unlimited funding. Many thousands of innocents sit in jail now because a cop said so. Don't even get me started on what jail does to tear up families and ruin lives. A few days in hail to a cop is nothing, but to everyone else that means loosing your job z then your home, and if you use drugs you then lose your kids, and your charges stop you from getting employment above minimum wage. Then you are wrecked and fighting for survival. Courts heap on massive fines you can't ever hope to pay off, so you either pay up everything but the rent money fir months and years on end, or you go back to jail. It's a cycle that spirals downward and you can't hope to get out of. Please teach your cop friends that the blue line is an impenetrable mountain fortress with razor sharp blades covering our side. This case doesn't surprise most of us because we see it happen to everyone we know and likely to ever meet.

I just looked up same jury verdict forms and several states are like this, but some are worded differently. One example was Florida C Zimmerman and you can either check the box or not on three parts 1. We find GZ guilty of 2nd degree murder as charged 2. We find GZ guilty of manslaughter, a lesser charged offense 3. We find GZ not guilty
