Good video on adjusting the diff' linkage. Speaking as somebody who had to fit a linkage to enable the diff' lock on a Disco', it's surprising there aren't more "how to" video's about this on KZbin. Main thing, though, is it's absolutely bloody brilliant how you're teaching Ludy (sp?). He seems keen and you're letting him get stuck in, which is the best way to learn. If he sticks with it, even for a few months, he'll know more than most Landy owners ever do.

Tears, frustrations, sweat, scratched arms. Slippery spanners and bloody back ache. It's all in a days work that many customers never see or pay for. I was once that 'Brother in arms'. Well done you two lads.👍 As an ex fellow mechanic I salute you.🍺🍻🍺😃 Cheers.👍

Mike thanks for the video on the diff lock it helped tremendously. I took my gearbox and transfer box on my 90 tdi out for a rebuild and put it back. Last weekend off road the centre diff light went off. So I readjusted as per your video and it's now perfect. I guess I didn't set up correctly. Keep up the great videos as I enjoy them a lot. All the best from South africa the rust free haven for landies

Love your work young felahs,l enjoy working on my rare 4bd1 land rover county because you need limited tools. Saying that age is starting to get ontop of me so l need to work on my beast smarter. l was watching a review on the new land-rover defender and of the back the electrics started to fail on them the first day,its a problem with all 4wheel drives and the younger generation will have to learn more on how to overcome the electrics and the devices to fix it.

Had to have my starter fixed on my 4bd1T this week - bit of a faff on to get it off - sent it to the starter shop where they stripped it, lubed it up, replaced the solenoid plunger, tested AND brought it out to me for C$71 inc tax The dealer would probably charge me that for the parts alone..

Hi mike I’ve been watching your channel for some time now , teaching myself the art of LR Maintinance 😀. It seems it’s a necessary once you become an owner. I have a 2003 LR discovery 4.6 L here in Portugal that I’m currently working on. Small jobs first. I’ve changed all the oils. Engine, differentials , gearbox and the gearbox filter. The issue I’m having is when I go from park into reverse you can hear it cluck into gear lightly. But when I change from drive to reverse the clunking noise is a Lot louder and harder. I’ve not only replaced the gearbox oil once but twice to gear as much new clean oil into the gearbox. I’ve checked a couple of times for leaks all’s good. I’d appreciate Any opinion. Keep up the good work on your channel.

Hi, Just been to look at a 1998 Discovery 1, V8 petrol, auto box. Not rotten, a few things wrong, my main concern was that the centre locking diff light was on all the time but the vehicle didn’t drive like the diff was permanently locked in ( No grabbing on turns) hi and lo ratios worked ok backwards and forwards but the lever did nothing left to right. Could this be just a linkage problem or broken transfer box? Thank you in advance.
