The screwdriver at 12:48 isn't a Philips, it's a Pozidrive. I'll grab my Anorak and see myself out.
@bimble72403 жыл бұрын
Beat me to it. Pozidrive #4. Snap-On sell them. Often confused in North America, seems they didn't get the memo about Pozidrive, but a Phillips driver will destroy the fastening. Landies are full of them.

I want to fit these seals to my old series 3 I understand it’s just a matter of cutting the bent edge off the body work where the old type of seal sits in?

Mike HNY to you, would love to see you change the door hinges for a good quality set in a future video - was thinking of stainless steel set and also repair rusted internal door frame at the same time as rust just fall out every time you shut the door.

Good stuff as always Mike👍🏽 As you’ve said before the most annoying thing about Defenders is how many issues they could have fixed but didn’t bother! I’ve drilled a 8mm hole at front of gutter and pushed one of those plastic pipe connectors in this let’s me put a “down pipe” of small diameter pvc tube down window frame with adhesive cable tie bases and exit at side of wing. Seems to keep water from pouring directly into door seal and interior👍🏽 Might freeze up where you are though🥶

I bet you back in the late 50's when this body shell was thought of, they didn't take into account bigger springs on the back, to all the water off the roof runs to the front!

I've had good results on my series hinges by drilling them out for M8, tapping the lower section of the hinge an using an allen headed M8 bolt. No slop and you can get some lube into them.

Hey Mike,. Do you know if the Puma seals will fit as SIII?
@BritannicaRestorations3 жыл бұрын
Yes but you have to remove the angled lip on the frame to get the seat to push on - but if you cut it off then the remaining part may be to small to push the seal on - risky
@CW-ox7oi2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, a few questions for you: • Who’s TD5 hinges would you use? • Would you recommend the genuine ones? • Is it worth getting a pro to paint these body colour or can you get good results with a spray can? Thanks. I definitely owe you a bottle of Jamesons by now!!!
@BritannicaRestorations2 жыл бұрын
Well I used to use the cheaper hinges, but the castings were rough (so needed some finishing) they are about £10 each - worked fine LR ones are £50 each and made in the UK - slightly better finish You need to get them epoxy primed and painted for a long life - cans are no good
