With all its off road gadgets, the new Defender lacks solid axles for definite power transfer to the wheel that's not spinning, the body claims to be stiffer than the old and probably is but bounces around so the wheel that's trying to grip is letting go and lifting off all the time. Also it's auto which is great in certain terrain but sometimes you need a clutch to shock a transmission to get you moving again 👍

You can own a defender like that. Since the first one came about they haven't really changed. You could get an old one to look just like that. Any of the engines from the 200 tdi and upwards will fit and do just as well as the Ford unit in that one.

Now that's a Defender. Not the new posh and gentrified releases they have today. Defenders are supposed to be dirtied and tested on rough terrain, not paraded in the city streets like a badge of arrogance.

Whilst there was new EU emissions rules coming in 2020 they could have carried production on with another engine. The simple answer is that it was costly and time consuming to build and sold in small numbers. They killed it for business reasons
