Loved "Ends"! Just hope the next one (cuz you know there'll be a next one) goes back a few scenes into this one, shows the EMTs picking up Corey and as they're working him up on the way to the hospital, they get a pulse! He's only human so in no condition to attack yet but they get him to the hospital and the docs save his life. Then ...onto whatever's gonna happen in his story. He doesn't have to be like Michael but he can choose to become a slasher to carry on Mike's tradition, even if it takes place in a new town.I thought it was a waste to just have him stab himself for no reason. The loss of Corey was my only problem with it. I wanna see how a mortal person melds with pure evil to gain the superhuman abilities Michael was clearly blessed (or cursed) with as a child.

First Halloween is my favorite movie. It has to do with the emotions I felt when society bullied me. And I imagined myself as Michael Myers. Now I'm an adult, and it's amazing how this film allowed me to feel the same emotions. After all, the first film was not about the massacre, it was deeper, there was a sense of freedom, a certain sense of madness. And I finally got that feeling again.

People forget I'm certain if this happened in a small twice a couple times and there was a Corey situation going on any small town would live in fear after knowing he's still out there somewhere. Of course anyone would be a bully. Bully's act in fear. And I love that they also brought Corey in to help show Michael that his time was coming to an end he saw the same darkness in Corey he brought on to the town. Then he sees Laurie again I think it's possible he was just using Corey never saw him as a friend but used him to gain strength and get to Laurie he didn't want anyone else being the shape. He knew if he didn't kill Laurie she would kill him because he's more weakened than he's ever been. If he would have killed her he would probably transcend even more. The supernatural aspect here is there it's all the towns fault to an extent they don't control Michael but they give into the fear most likely what also keeps him coming back not feeling pain as Laurie says in Kills can't defeat him with brute force. I love that because Karen died at Judith's window Laurie knew if she ever had to kill Michael she knew how to this time. Show him his reflection that's his weakness and then make him even more weak draining his blood because he is human. If the town would have stopped giving into fear the Boogeyman take like Michael wants then he would be more defeatable.

Halloween Ends was great! Half the people I know enjoyed it, and the other half hated it! I absolutely loved it! Yes, Kills and Ends have a couple flaws but it was a different take that actually interested me; instead of that crap we got from Resurrection, H4-6, RZ 2, etc… The kills in Ends are gory and amazing, that DJ death scene; where his jaw got bashed in was my favorite kill, and when Michael did his classic kill to Debra. Ends is my favorite with 2018 & 1978, Halloween Kills was the weakest in the new trilogy (IMO)

I just watched it, and as a big Halloween fan since the early 80's, I actually like it a lot. And I listened to many people crap on it, so I went in with low expectations. But, that isn't why I liked it. I thought it was refreshing and very character driven. And I didn't care that Myers had little screen time, because the shape was working through Corey, so it still felt that Michael's essence was still portrayed through-out the movie. The DNA was all over it. I didn't care for the last movie, Halloween Kills. But, I will say that if it were a movie that solely took place in the days after the first movie, I would have been cool with that. And somehow tied Corey's storyline to current day, which is why Michael didn't kill Corey. My only real criticism of this movie is that I wish this started the trilogy, not ended it.

Bro the DJ was spreading misinformation about Corey and was constantly spreading the lie that Corey was the killer. He basically had an ongoing propaganda comparing the kept Corey from being able to heal and move on. Corey only fucked up when he went after Lori. He was right until then lol especially with the blow torch kill. Like you’re not running your mouth anymore, kid.

It wasn’t a bad movie. It’s been said many times in other places, as part of the end of a new trilogy it doesn’t work well. The buildup in Kills led you in the direction of Laurie recovering and getting revenge on Michael for the death of her daughter. But this movie strays from that narrative and goes in a completely different direction. If Corey had been established from movie one, even in flashbacks or a mention of the babysitter who killed the kid then I think it would have made more sense. As a standalone Halloween film, it definitely has its merits.

I really liked the movie. I put it on par with Halloween 2018 as second best after the original Halloween. I liked it for the reasons you gave in your analysis, and I liked having a definitive ending for once. It’s nice having a tied up story line, and H1978, H2018, Kills, and Ends gives a complete story line. You can’t say that about any of the others in the franchise. One ends open ended with the horrible Halloween 6, and the other with the horrific Halloween Resurrection. Halloween Ends is a good movie, and satisfying conclusion to the storyline. Great analysis, you’ve gotten a sub from me. Will look at your other podcasts.

There are worse Halloween films. Pinhead has less screentime in the original Hellraiser and he's the figurehead of the series. I like that Ends isn't a typical slasher. It's a slasher but offers more. Carpenter never wanted Myers to be a typical slasher.

This movie should been Michael Myers and Laurie's strobe story not something else. That's not a Halloween ends movie. Like the stepfather part 3 had way great ending story to the movie. The main character boy fights against the stepfathers new look. His in a wood chopper later falls in the machine an disappeared the killer stepfather never comes back! The happy ending story the last stepfather movie.

this felt like a fan made movie with all the original actors, like half way through i even checked to see if it was the right movie or not. if this was a spin off that was advertised and promoted CORRECTLY, then maybe it would have been better, but since this was the finale halloween to end the franchise? man this movie was so disappointing
@WhyItsGreat
@WhyItsGreat Жыл бұрын
Idk if I agree with the advertisement argument. The movie is what is. No marketing approach can change what happens in the film; it can only change and affect your expectations. If the movie didn't work for you that's fine. But marketing does not make a movie good or bad. As to the "end to the franchise" part. I'm not sure how much the creative team behind the film meant for this to be an end or culmination to the entire Michael Myers saga. I think they meant it as an end to *their* itirations of the character. I love that each movie David Gordon Green made approached Michael Myers from different angles and told different stories (and I did not like Kills) even if they don't coalesce into a traditional 3 movie arc. Each one honors and pays tribute to the Carpenter films of the late 70s and 80s in fun ways, but they're definitely imperfect. Thanks for engaging with the video!

@@WhyItsGreat i disagree, marketing can definitely make or break a movie. look what happened with “jason takes manhattan”. this movie was advertised as a michael myers halloween movie just like every other one. yet we got like what, idk? 20 minutes of him? felt like a romantic drama with a iconic killer thrown into the mix. so yes my expectations were not met, but i still at least thought it would be about micheal myers and not some random dude that we’ve never seen before. if i had known that’s what the movie would have been about then i would have went into it with a different perspective and given it more of a chance to be better in my eyes. i don’t mind change, just not change that wasn’t at all presented in the build up and catches you off guard wondering if you’re even watching the right movie. anyways i appreciate you responding and i did enjoy the video. also i’m not trying in anyway to push that my opinion is right and anyone’s different opinion is wrong (not saying that’s what you were doing), just that i feel a certain way about it.

@@WhyItsGreat and you're speaking to a big problem with some fans, every fandom has them. Judging a movie by the trailer,etc. imposing rules on the creators that dont really matter and most importantly misunderstanding the information given to them. Jason Blum clarified in June 2021, they were never claiming to make the final movie of the franchise, only the final movie of their trilogy, yet here were are a year and a half later and people were still expecting a franchise finale. I personally loved the trilogy, but i also knew what to expect considering how the story was playing out. People were fine with 2018 but went into Kills expecting Michael hunting laurie, didnt get it and then expected to get it in Ends, which makes no sense because they made it clear in 2018 and reiterated in Kills, he wasnt after her. The people saying the stories dont fit between all 3 films arent paying attention. Everything that happens in Ends, is a result of the 2018 massacre
@millyoneyedeaz1350

@@tragiclife5600 Marketing, as well as the movie themselves are supposed to use misdirection. Expecttions should come from the narrative provided not what you assume from a trailor. People made this same mistake with Kills: they were on board with it being the same night... Yet they ALSO expected Laurie and Michael to have a showdown in Kills. Narratively that makes no sense being she was nearly fatally injured end of the movie. With Kills we also see Michael was also fatally injured. Change was also repesented througout the last two films. The concept of Michael was unraveling early on in 2018 when Aaron noted about Laurie, " a monster creating another monster" and throughout the film, we see Laurie behaving like Michael in several key scenes (both the pumpkin title credits and the movie opening with the song "Monsters Hop" callback to both 2018 and Kills where Brackett laments "Now he's turning us into monsters" after the mob causes Tivoli to commit suicide... The movie is ultimately more inline with the original than the later sequels. There's alot more character speculation about Michael than he's actually seen onscreen (btw, in the original movie, he' s onscreen for 9:30 mins, in Ends, he's onscreen for 10:55) Even down to how the town treated Corey and Laurie in Ends, they were already doing that in 2018 and Kills. Even karen blamed Laurie for the massacre when she talked to Barker. These 3 films are far more meticulously connected then people think.
