Something to play with if you want some good fun.. Catapults are pretty broken in v66. If you know where raids will come from you can build a long wall with walls on either side and gatehouse center and line them with catapults. The trick is to dirt road the entire kill box and disable maintenance to get rid of trees that block your catapult vision. Position your melee right behind the gatehouse, and early on archers on the walls can help supplement, but I suggest having them hold fire once you have enough catapults to handle the raids to avoid the moronic archers shooting themselves mechanic. The AI is awful and will slowly organize, charge the gate, and then run away and reorganize as long as your melee is right behind the gate. Catapults on side walls are important to handle them if they get too close for the main wall to hit. Raids are horribly unbalanced and can contain fully equipped arganosh and giants, so I didn't feel bad ignoring raid chance and cheesing the related titles. (100 raids) Love seeing your aesthetic cities!

I do love artillery but I'm not really one to exploit killboxes. However, I absolutely must thank you for the tip of deforesting and replacing with unmaintained dirt roads, that is truly sagacious advice

16:20 if you need time to build up weapons/armour dont reject them ignore them so you get the ultimatum days and then the raid days to prepare

There are no ultimatum days anymore in the current version. They only give you the day to decide and raid you pretty much immediately :/

i got about 900 humans and 450 dwarfs at the moment,i payed every ransom so far (because me noob) but it gets on my nerve,these guys never stop coming at me.... from what i understood so far,i should make some of the dwarfs full-time melee soldiers. got it! what if i recruit 50 Tilapi immedietly and make them a full-time bow regiment? they won´t do any work,all they do is training and rain arrows on them damn raiders....right?

Archers are broken in the sense that they friendly fire themselves currently, if you try to defend within your city. So you either need to use them to attack out on the field or better yet, just go all out on training all the dwarves asa deterrent.
