The great thing about this event is race day registration and at least with the hills there is lower impact on the legs.. Good luck in your next race!

Chriiisss. This is your thing man. You beat people who you have no business beating. You gotta do another 50k or 50 Miler! The steeper the better.

Haha dude I know. There's a guy who ran a 1:35 on this course several years ago and he was a 2:15 marathoner according to Jeff.

Way to go man! You're on a tear despite the few things that have hampered you slightly in the last two races, but you never let it affect you mentally or physically. I'm not much of a distance runner yet but am a beast on the hills too, and always felt that if there had been some sort of event or race that focused on hill sprinting I'd have gone far in it. I used to end a 3 mile run by my house back in my high school days with a super long steep hill, and that helped me become a strong 400 meter runner for the first time in my life as I never even touched that distance in a race before, and our team needed another guy for our good mile relay team so I feel that helped prepare me to be able to sprint that last straightaway stronger. For pure speed I also did this very steep short grass hill, probably about 30 meters and close to 45-50 degrees steep, and got to the point where I did 20 reps at 100% effort with only the downhill as a rest and right back up once I got to the bottom. I think that one helped me for the one and only time I had to run the 400 meters and the 100 meters at a duel meet, which are back to back and in the wrong order in my opinion as trying to run the 100 after a full out 400 is very tough for anyone, and in a duel meet there was an even shorter time between races, but still won with my slowest time of the year by far (the other school really sucked obviously).

Cool dude! Hills are great training for any type of runner. There are tons of hilly races you can target if that's your thing. I know about some good ones in Hawaii, California and Arizona. I was considering Pikes Peak Ascent but that might be a little too steep for my specialty and the high elevation looks really tough.

I have no clue how I'd fair running a decent distance that was mostly a climb, probably not too well at all as I'm still more sprint oriented at the moment, but these hilly longer distances look like your bread and butter (do people still use that expression?) and you could probably wreak some more havoc on similar races. Maybe target those particular races in the near future for yourself? And knowing that you were still in recovery mode after that gutsy marathon shows just how much you can dominate other uphill half marathons.

Nice! Congrats! Go for the 3rd next year! I got my 1st official half end of Oct. but it's just to check to see where my fitness level is at after my recovery period. Keep rollin man!

1st official half but you've done marathons? You'll enjoy it man! Halves are way easier on the body and you don't need to worry about all the nutrition and tapering. What's your goal?

yeah, Skip the half and went straight to the marathon. My long runs before I ran marathon was 16-18 miles and I was like mind as well do a full marathon since i've been doing halfs on my long runs already. Not sure what my goal is yet since I want to see how I feel after my next ultra next Friday.

Good race! Not sure if you intend on defending the title year after year, but it would be a fun challenge to see how many years in a row you could do it.

Nice race recap. Always appreciate the videos. Best of luck with recovery! What drink mix to you use for hydration? I remember in your pre-marathon video you mentioned some kind of carb drink, what was the product? I'm going to try bringing a hand bottle on my next marathon race i think (I'll test it out on a long run before hand) Also, have you ever tried SportLegs? Considering trying them for my long runs and marathon: www.davescheapbikes.com/sportlegs-review-science-ingredients-alternatives-placebo/

I tried SportLegs a long time ago but it was during the buildup of my first marathon like 6 years ago so I may need to look at those again. The mix is called Carbopro. I used it in my flask for this hilly race too.
